Bulkhead seats with an infant? Early check in or not?

Hi

We're travelling virgin lgw to cancun in July with a 6 year old and 20 month old. As we have an infant obv we can't check in online. I have contact virgin via the chat to us function on the site and the rep has said that they would book a skycot for us ( not sure if he'll fit init or not.)
Obv lgw has twilight check in. Is it worth us rearranging ourselves to come down the night before or should we be ok to get decent seats (ideally bulkhead- but as long as were together I don't mind) if we check I'm 3 hours before our flight?
Opinions would be gratefully received, am anticipating the flight to be hard work but anything to make it a tiny bit easier will do.

Hi there, I had the exact same issue in April.

Easy answer:
Phone up and book the basinet
Don't try to reserve the seats online
Try the online check-in the day before but it probably won't work for the infant (book the adults on anyway)
Turn up for check-in as normal and it should all be ok.
