A lot of the inbound flights are delayed today. Caused by the Flight Planning system failing last night. A few complaints on Facebook this morning.

Thanks...

Yep, just confirmed that vs 73 now departures between 17.00 and 18.00 this evening. Could there then be additional delays going to MCO? Have a tight deadline at 8.30 est tomorrow morning, so might just cancelled if the same delays can be expected...

Anyway, with lounge at MAN nothing like Lhr, have jumped on a train to explore Manchester for a few hours...

I see on the VS web site that the delay is due to an "external" flight planning system failure, as if this is outside of VS's control. LHR departures are also a sea of red by the way ...

Looks like bad weather in the US didn't help.

I was wondering last night (I saw the three complaints on the VS FB page) about the FAA fire too but Virgin's use of 'external flight planning system failure isn't really all that helpful as an explanation to anyone.

Kyle use both 'external flight ...' and 'flight planing ...' in explanation but again it wasn't clear if this was the VS system or not.

Sometimes less really isn't more!

we have a potential tropical storm brewing in the gulf right now. they dont think it will become a hurricane but it could swing north east across florida though the betting is Texas. its giving us some grey skies and heavy rain but hopefully shouldnt disrupt travel, hope not, especially as my daughter flies in to RSW via CLT on Monday

Just got home from the 36 - was 2.5 hours late leaving BGI, pilot blamed it on an "outsourced" planning system that failed and they, and many other airlines, had to go to a backup system....

The back up system failed as well so all flight plans had to be done manually it's not a VS system but outsourced to sabre so affected many other airlines too. Totally beyond vs control.

No doubt someone at Sabre will be looking for a new job on Monday morning.

To lose one system could be classed as unfortunate, but to lose the backup too, that's careless.

Hurricane? sounds like it could be a bumpy approach tonight... Flying back on VS6 on Tuesday, so hoping that weather will have settled by then.

On another note... First time in Escape lounge, and have to be honest, left after 15 mins for the Observatory Bar. Very cramped and loud music, with little food and not even a sparkling water... (although service from attendants very good and she did try to find a sparkling water in another lounge y) ) Surely VS can do better than that, even if it is mostly holiday destinations... Anyway, trust inflight catering will be better.
