Foreign Exchange Travel Money service 'Moneycorp'

Hi - has anyone using this service made a Lloyds TSB Debit Card transaction? Did Lloyds add any charges either interest or a transaction fee?

The reason I am asking is that some banks see this as a 'cash' transaction-and will charge interest, and others won't. Unfortunately, Moneycorp can't answer the question and referred me to my bank (fair enough). Lloyds can't help me either, the guy I spoke to had no idea.

Why would a debit card transaction incur interest (unless you're overdrawn)? It might incur an fx transaction fee - which has happened when I have used the card at the PO to buy fx (though according to the D**ly M**l online site - a google result, I promise! - this should stop at the end of 2012)


If it is a credit card you're using, then I'm fairly sure that the bank will class it as a cash transaction and you will be charged appropriate interest. The only exception I have seen is using Tesco Credit Card to buy from Tesco Travel Money Service where the "Money will count towards a customer's cash limit but will be treated as a purchase transaction and will still be charged interest at the purchase interest rate."

I think Lloyds TSB do charge a fee. If it is a debit card there should be no interest.

The fee is probably not much - ?£3 but galling all the same.

No Interest but a min charge of £2 and a max charge of £4 per transaction.

Curiously enough I received a "Change In Your Account" notice today from Lloyds where they state that the fx fee will be dropped from 2nd October and any fees incurred between 31st July and 2 October will be waived.
