Travelled to Las Vegas on the 28th of June in PE, I used some miles and a couple of Amex upgrades for a visit to see my family that live in Las Vegas.

The return was booked for the 8th of July, but a couple days prior I thought I would contact Virgin to see if there was any chance of a mileage upgrade for our return trip.

Virgin confirmed there was space available and it would cost me 56000 miles and $180 for my wife and I to upgrade from our PE tickets to Upper class.
Now I am your normal Economy passenger, the trip out to Las Vegas was my first time in PE, and I thought that was a great comfortable flight, with fantastic flight attendants.

So I now had the chance of flying Upper Class, and although it takes a long time to accumulate miles, this was a chance not to be missed.

So we arrived at Mccarren nice and early as I was unable to check in on line because of the ticket change.
We were given 11a and 12a and proceeded to the lounge which I believe is called club Las.
We received a warm welcome and there was an open bar with sandwiches and snacks available.I had seen a couple of reveiws about the lounge, commenting that it was nothing like the Heathrow lounge, but when your used to flying economy, this was a welcome change.
A few drinks later we were called to gate E2 and proceeded to our seats.
I really was not sure to expect but was very pleased with what I found.
The seat was comfortable with plenty of room, and we were offered a glass of champagne on arrival.

The staff again were superb, I explained to the flight attendant that I normally sit at the other end of the aircraft, and she went out of her way to make it special for my wife and I.
My wife sat at my table and we had great meal together.
The beds were made up ready for us to sleep, and I enjoyed a good 4 -5 hrs of sleep, I think this was a first for me.
We were woken by the flight attendant who offered a choice of breakfasts, I plumped for cereal and the Bacon Butty, very tasty
The 10 hr flight went so fast and with in no time we were at Gatwick, zipped through passport control and a bit of a trek down to the baggage hall, where the bags took 2 minutes to arrive.

So on this trip I travelled PE and Upper Class, I'm sure that many of you do this frequently, but for those of us who don't, it was a great experience.

Not sure about making your bed up in the day as we only travelled on the night flight.
Sleep suits were given out, nice duvets and a snooze kit containing socks, toothbrush etc.
Food was really good, the beef was fantastic.
This was my first time in Upper Class, so I was just happy to be there and enjoyed everything.

Las Vegas was very warm, around 107F and rising to 110F.
The new Terminal 3 is really nice and spacious , the lounge is a little small so could get busy.
Good luck, I won $1000 in a supermarket on a Video poker machine, this combined with the Upper Class return made the week very special.
Have a great time

Thanks for your TR y) y)

Your sense of true appreciation of being able to upgrade with miles (something most of us would never think of doing) come across loud and clear :D

Now that you have tasted the "forbidden fruit" of both PE and UC will the other half let you go back to economy ):
