October Upgrades

I am trying to upgrade a LHR-LAX PE fare to UC in October but there is very little availability (been checking for the last month). In people's experience is the upgrade likely to become available nearer the time or have I left it too late?

I'm holding off buying the PE ticket until the UC upgrade is available. If the upgrade does not become available I'm thinking of going PE with ANZ as it's currently over £100 less and seems a better product. Only downside is no miles.

October still seems really expensive with Virgin.

You will get Virgin miles from ANZ, I did for my flights back in Feb.

Flew economy out and PE return. Both flights were excellent and food and service was some of the best I've had on any flight to or from the USA. The new PE seat is very good.

Would certainly use ANZ again, the only slight downside is the late arrival time into LAX, but that may suit some.

When i booked our 1st UC reward flight to Lax in October a few months ago there was tons of availability. I also looked last week and everything had gone but you never know.

We were the only ones on our flight for ages and there are still only 11 on the way out and 9 on the way back as having reserved seats. Am also looking for YVR for next June and there is plenty at the moment, so as soon as we finalise our dates i will be ready to grab, even if there is a reward sale or other better safe than sorry.

I'm still hoping some availability might open up due to the current low load numbers.

I successfully booked an upgrade to UC using miles to LAX last night, leaving on the 27th Oct.

I think there was outbound G availability on about 8 days in the month - return might have been a bit fewer but there were definitely some still up for grabs.

The very helpful agent did say my flight was busy - but then I'm going on the first day of half term.

Could you hold off until November? That's still wide open with G availability virtually every day.
