Hi all I have done several dummy bookings etc and have determined there is G availablity for my dates to DXB next May. Currently looking at approx £2200 for two ppl.How would I go about calculating the additional taxes I will have to pay for G? thanks in advance
The only way to get the full cost, including the extra APD etc would be to give VS a call, they will be able to give you the full and total cost for buying an S/W and then upgrading to G with miles.
Easiest way I find to do this without calling is to price up a miles only flight in Upper and a Miles only flight in PE. It'll tell you how much the taxes etc. are for each, so the difference between them is the extra that you'll pay!
thanks...are the upgradeable ticket prices affected by sales etc or purely on uptake?
£90 diff from PE to UC in taxes. On the nose.

W is never discounted - S class is sometime discounted when a PE sale is out. Usually they drop the K and then S stays the same but I have seen low S class on some route.

Without wishing to be a pedant, ISTBC but that isn't tax/APD, it's the extra fuel surcharge.
Always planning a trip somewhere!

Correct!
We are falling into VS's trap by calling the extra ££ as 'taxes' when it is not. (there is however extra APD to pay when upgrading from Y upto PE or UC)
There is no difference in the tax (APD) between PE and UC - they are in the same higher band.
Huzzah for International Jet-setting !
