My partner and I have amassed 600,000 FF miles and we have finally booked a upper class flights! Flying LHR to LAX then driving to Vegas, flying LAS to SFO Virgin America and then SFO to LHR. We have a 747 return flight from SFO. Never been in the Bubble so have reserved seat up there... Bad decision?

some would say yes as they don't like the mini economy cabin at the rear.

Consensus is the best place to be is in the A-zone - the very front section on the main deck when travelling on the 747.

If you want to have as much rest as possible, then the bubble UC seats are fine

If however, you want to savour all UC has to offer plump for the A zone seats 12 - 19

This was my exact itinerary a month ago but instead of Virgin America I went with Southwest to SFO as I can have an 2 free baggage allowance.

Anyway I flew back in 12A/K which are downstairs in the nose of the plane. Excellent pair of UC seats especially for a couple. No disturbance from any passengers.

I'd be tempted to change to 11 & 12 A if free - as you're then facing 'the wall' (see attachment - seat 11A) instead of the suites opposite you.

If not 2-7K or 8-17A are all wall facing, the ones towards the back are near to the bar though, good or bad for some people!

EDIT: Referring to A340-600's only here!

I prefer to be further forward on a 340-600. 3/4/5 K are all good in my book :) (2k is too near the loo :D ).
Avoid the mixed config (upstairs) cabin on the return - disastrous IMHO.
Make sure you hit the In'N'Out Burger in Barstow ( :0 ) on the road trip to Vegas :D :D .
VX are a great airline - not sure which cabin you're in but their 1st product is great. A word of warning the LAS- SFO route can be very (very) bumpy :D .
