Mushrooms are a pretty basic ingredient. If you are so fussy that you absolutely cannot eat them, then perhaps you need to research the menu in advance and make other arrangements, or as clarkey says, just pick them out and leave them?

As DL says, they might not be chunky enough to pick out.

I have the same reaction to anything seafood / fish related. Makes me heave.

There is no need to put mushrooms in all 3 dishes available though, poor planning. The basic conception of offering varied options means you are more likely to offer something that meets the needs of a higher % passengers (appreciate some will always be fussy).

Why should you have to order a special meal or sit and pick them out? Just offer 1 dish that doesn't have mushrooms!

Perhaps there needs to be a special meal called 'No mushrooms'.

Anyway, is this just the Upper Menu or across all classes? If it's only UC, then perhaps it could be renamed 'Mushroom Class'.

It's the PE menu

It was indeed the PE menu. UC on the way back y)

As for the comments about being fussy. What planet do you live on?? I eat most things but fungi?? Why not nibble at the bottom of the tree while at it :o)
If you are one of those people that eat anything then good on you. I have the right not to like certain foodstuffs and expect a company the size of VS to at least offer me a choice. Not the same major ingredient in EVERY dish. From what I remember the meal is intrinsic part of the ticket cost and therefore the service.
I found that a failure and see no reason for it.

Of all the things to argue about! :)

I am not disputing the fact that it is poor planning to have them in all three dishes at the same time. What I am saying is that they are a sufficiently common ingredient for there to be a better than negligible chance that this will happen.

If you dislike them so much that you simply cannot each a dish in which they are present, then it would be best to research the menus in advance and have a backup plan. I would say the same if somebody made the same complaint about, say, onions. I would not say the same if you were talking about, say, aubergines, or prawns, or [fill in less common ingredient].

I really find these comments a bit OTT. I don't think anyone said you do not have the right not to like things. You certainly have a right to expect VS to offer you a choice. But I think you'll find that VS certainly has a right to disappoint you.

Right, I'm off to salt some aubergines... :)

[quote="slinky09"][quote="DragonLady"][quote="clarkeysntfc"]Can't you just eat whatever it is and pick out the mushrooms? For example I dislike avocado, so I'll eat the rest of a salad and then jus avoid the avocado. It's not that difficult.

You can't just remove something and not expect it to have flavoured and to have melted into the dish. Here in Spain my wife and daughter are often served meat in supposedly vegetarian dishes and they are told to pick the meat out. You can only imagine the response.

The real point of the post is it is an unbelievably stupid menu and beggars belief that someone actually produced this combination in the first place and the poster was quite right to raise the subject. Hopefully someone at VS will take note

The "pick the meat out" vegetarian offerings always crack me up when I end up in your out-of-the-way trattorie back home :D

Thankfully I am very much in the eat-anything category of person, but this menu is indeed bizarre; not only all mushrooms, but two of the three are vegetarian, starch based dishes that I will bet are basically identical save for a swap of pasta with rice. And I'll bet further they are making sauteed, glossy mushroom something-or-other, and using it for the meat offering as well as the pasta and rice. Must seriously simplify the catering operation, if nothing else.

All I can think (look at the joker smiley) is that you take can't take the comments other make with the same jest as you expect your comments to be taken.............. :0

No you won't but please could I ask all you guys to play nicely and no personal attacks.

I love mushrooms - but agree that it is totally ludicrous to have a menu that gives such lack of choice , particularly when you are trapped in an aircraft at 35000 feet . It's not like you can go elsewhere for a different meal!
Absolutely crazy , whoever put this particular combination on the menu should be shot ! ( not literally you understand )

Just to clarify the rules here HL - are personal attacks on mushrooms still allowed?
