Virgin Air Crew Lies

I feel old, I remember this from the first and second time around.

I am amazed that VS allow this site to continue to operate especially if they have so many members of crew involved. Surely they could win any libel case.

Imagine the first swathe of headlines - Beardy Multi Millionare's Unfeeling Corporation Seeks to Crush Regular Guy.....

If the courts then found for VS, would these headlines get rescinded? Don't think so....

Beyond that, I'm certain that they were advised to weigh the costs of suing against whatever damage this guy might cause, and seeing as it has not brought down the airline, why spend hundreds of thousands of pounds litigating. Imagine if they ever went the route of suing everyone that made such damning comments, they might be forced to add a legal fee surcharge to our fares

Easier and cheaper to let it die off naturally as the obsessive rants of an individual than give him a platform in court.

There was a post on the Facebook VS page which kicked off big time one night by a travel agent with a dodgy website. Kept some of us up half the night )

The site did draw attention to this case:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/2346319.stm You've got to wonder if the lady made enough fuss at the time for the cabin crew to take her more seriously. If it had been me, I would have just stood up and refused to sit down, rather than be squashed.

Even on a full flight there must be some alternative seat that can be offered, even if it was in the cabin crew rest area?

not being funny the guy may not have liked his inflight entertainment being disturb but to be honest it was in the way virgin works as in to get everyone to feel like they are not just a number and to be picked at random to be able to select a winner to be honest is not the air host/hostess's fault so it should not be taken out on them if the alleged is true. Therefore the captain did what any captain should do if you go into any work place and demonstrate what can be perceived to be acting in a way that is offensive / threatening then you would not expect to be tolerated acting in this way and the appropriate action should be followed.

I thought all the IFE's automatically pause when there is a cabin announcement?

Unfortunately not.

Couple of years ago I was off to MCO and was engrossed by the Sherlock Holmes film.

Announcement came over the p.a. System and I lost the last 10 minutes of the film (the announcement seemed to go on for ever) so I ended up buying the DVD !

Thanks for that I was sure that whilst the soundtrack was lost and PA announcement appear on the screen that the film continued as was picked up once the announcement is finished, just like when yo answer a phone via Bluetooth in your car and the IPod / radio is merely muted.

It's because CAA regulations state that all airlines registered in the UK must turn off the IFE for take off and landing

It is funny that this subject should be mentioned as the Skymap was left on during the landing of VS16 yesterday. As I had only the Skymap on, I don't know if the complete IFE was still working. Probably not. I would imagine that leaving only the Skymap on would not contravene any CAA rules or hinder any sudden evacuation, in the same way that the safety video rolling during taxi doesn't. The other IFE would require headphones which would be a no-no in the case of emergency.

Isn't it normal for the NOVA IFE equipped planes to have the sky map on, with the others there's some issue about having only the map on ... ?|

you may be right Slinky, I have been on a number of flights and anorakly watched the map all the way down. bit un nerving to see 200feet altitude as the wheels hit the ground !!

I guess 15 years ago, some programmer thought it would be a cutesy touch to throw in a few graphics. Bravo.

Let's just say that some travel agents have a sense of entitlement that ... goes some way beyond what mere mortals expect!
