So, 449 pax, 15 crew and the somewhat vital 2 high heid 'uns up front set off 12.07, only 2 minutes late for an 8hr, 5 mins trip to the Land of Mouse.

Family of 4 lucked out with OLCI the night before & snagged bubble front row & row behind (70H&K, 71 H&K) - non refurbished 747 still pretty good, depending on your seat.

Boarding was a bit chaotic - not enough thought at the gate - if you have an issue with a group - take them to the side and let another of the 7, repeat 7 members of staff sort out the next in line - don't have the whole queue stopped for 5-6 minutes.

On board service as expected, but the PE meal service looks pretty daft to be honest. The silly fold out tablecloth on the tray just gets in the way, and the tray itself looks bare, and in fact is bare, with many of the previous extras now missing. For the kids meals, desert was a very yummy looking Gu pudding - only problem was, no teaspoon - only a huge soup style spoon to get into a very small pot - resorted to using handle end of spoon - little things Virgin, little things!

Ice creams good - take the strawberry as the vanilla was stored outside on the wing, it was so solid! CHeese * onion sandwich good (and NO MUSHROOMS!)

Landed 15.25, early to 36 degrees and 3 weeks in the sun.

Am really going to miss the bubble PE for the future - having read other reports, booking the downstairs PE cabin in the refurbished aircraft seems to be the way to go.

EDIT - just remembered either our PE "packs" had not been put on our seats, on some of the pax on before us had nicked 'em!

Very nice TR, thanks for posting y) y) Sounds like the flight was rammed to the rafters with it being school holidays but your service didn't suffer ^)

Enjoy your 3 weeks...no envy here...honest ):
