virgin holidays v ba holidays

hi, i've been looking for friends for a week in vegas next easter.virgin holidays for a week staying in the mirage £1185 per person.ba website £876 for same dates both direct flights.thats a big saving,any ideas why the differenc?

If they are for identical conditions, i.e class of travel, class of room etc.. then BA looks cheaper, no real reason other then VH being priced higher in this instance. If I were you I would look at the type of room BA are offering over VH - that may be the reason, you don't want to end up sleeping in the broom closet.. well its vegas, sleep definitely not required ):

Would say don't venture over to the 'dark side' that is BA, but for a saving like that even I may be tempted.

Sorry am I missing something.. how can it be the same? BA product vs VS product.. is that not something that VH would say is a 'slight' difference off the bat? ?|

Not via Quidco it's not. VH currently 3.5% where BA is only 3% for holidays

I also never had BA transactions track properly. Mind you BA flights have only just been added.

Good advice to look at the hotel accommodation on offer but that is a significant difference and you could use the extra £'s to upgrade when you check in.

Must admit I've never personally been lucky with VH room allocation. The last package I booked with them some while back was at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. We paid for a special room and view but got a real substandard room. Front desk said that was the kind of room VH paid for. We upgraded and now always book direct with hotels.

Also BA flights can sometimes be lower than VS and we travelled BA to Florida this year for that reason

I found same sort of difference in late 2010. BA were *much* cheaper - same car, similar flight times, back at the wide end of the plane, same hotel (which has all the same room).

Only difference was that with BA we had the advantage of connecting flights built into the price- so it was even cheaper even if VH had been able to give us a price match on the holiday portion of it - we would have to add round about £200 (at least) for connecting flights + overnight at LHR or petrol for the drive down , hotel room overnight and parking for the ten days we were out in LA. Our decision was quite easy....

I have found when comparing the two that Virgin Holidays usually include transfers from the airport to the hotel and include the services of a holiday rep whereas with BA you just get the flight and hotel, so therefore may not be classed as exactly the same package.

I wonder if that is a change in policy?? They have matched a few for me over they years. The last one was about 2009 - To Vegas.

One of the big travel sites was offering hotel and VS flights for £80 p.p less than VH. They matched the next day after someone in the back office checked.

The holidays i have asked VH to price match are the same transfers,reps,everthing the same, even Kuoni are beating VH and that is with VA flights

Resort fees at The Mirage are $25 per room per day ! VH say they include this in the price of their holidays, I'd certainly take a copy of that statement!! but if true then that does save quite a bit.

VH actually now charge £13 per person for a return transfer. Personally I'd prefer to use one of the numerous taxi waiting outside arrivals - its a short trip to the 'strip' hotels

When we went to Vegas last Sept, they definitely included the resort fees as the check out agent was surprised as she said you have nothing more to pay.

The only reason we used VH was because I had some Tesco vouchers and put them towards the holiday but now they have put a restriction on how many you can use, so have converted them all to miles. It was actually cheaper this time to fly into Lax and drive to Vegas, than go with VH, UC as well, as before it was only PE with VH for the same price. y)
