Hi im hoping someone may be able to provide some advice.

I have about 40,000 miles in addition to a premium economy reward upgrade (when using miles to purchase a fare) + a complementary companion return flight reward (when purchasing a qualifying flight).

Im trying to establish the best way that i can get value out of what i have.

I would like to go to NYC which i know i have the miles for and can then use the PE Upgrade but thats not much good for the misses!

Any advice as to how i can get best use of the above and get both of us in PE. She is a flying club member but only has about 5000 miles.

I tried to use some miles to upgrade us last week on honeymoon but the tight gits wouldnt allow as i had booked through Virgin Holidays so wasnt a qualifying fare. :0

Many thanks

I think the best you can do is book an economy reward flight in the sale LHR-NYC 17,500 miles plus the dreaded taxes and surcharges, then buy 23,000 miles for yourself £360 to top up your account leaving enough miles left in your account to book a reward flight for your wife 55,000 miles plus taxes and surcharges.

The total should amount to around £1150 based on a journey in September.

Or you can buy one Premium fare for around £790 and use your PE upgrade voucher in the reward seat sale for 17,500 miles and £410 in taxes totalling £1200 and you can earn miles and tier points on the revenue fare.

Hope this helps.
