Silly question, is the flight back from HK a "live" flight, carrying passengers? Or does it come back empty, same question for the outgoing flight for whichever plane is next on the list for the refit (does anyone know yet which plane will be next by the way)

Empty with minimal crew - flight deck and I believe a small number for cabin checks.

The next one to do is due to leave tomorrow at 9 pm, check the Status Updates under the Toolbox above to get an update - that'll be when we know!

I see G-VLIP is off the LAS today :)

I've updated the first post to include G-VLIP in the completed list.

Anyone know who's off the HKG next?

I would put a bet on it being G-VXLG Ruby Tuesday.

(as this is a total guess i have a 1 in 4 chance of being correct)

Unlikely to be XLG - she landed back in MAN this morning operating the 74 so almost certainly will be operating the 73 back this afternoon as no other 747's are currently in MAN.

DOH!

has to be G-VROS then as the other 2 are off towards the US

G-VGAL is off to ANU
G-VROY is off to MCO

Surely it would make sense to send them off to MAN on the way for a repaint as it would save taking them out of service twice?

Been a few months since anything was in the paintshop actually?

I wonder if all three re-furbed a/c will be based at Gatwick....We fly out from MAN on VS73 on the 18th Sept so I'm hoping G-VROS is back with us by then...hopefully a 4 in 7 chance in flying on one of the refurbed birds :)

We fly from MAN to MCO on 3rd October, having checked the routes etc i've pretty much accepted we're having an old plane, it appears Ladybird has flown once from MAN to MCO, it obvious they're all flying from Gatwick until the refurb is complete...gutted ?|

It was reported that post refrub VS wanted the planes to fly from LGW to iron out any issues - but by October there should be at least four refurbed aircraft out of seven and it's going to get more difficult to keep them in LGW alone, so you may have a chance.

You'll be flying out on the aircraft that we return to MAN on...We arrive back on the 3rd from MCO :(

Anyone have any info on the scheduled return date for G-VROS ?

Well G-VLIP took 31 days which was quicker than the first two so for G-VROS I am going to suggest at least 31 days.

So I am going to suggest G-VROS will be back around 15 September.

I've just been able to book our seats outbound for Tues am flight to Cancun from Gatwick, this says it's a config 1...booked into the Bubble, premium & looks like it's got 6 rows of 3 seats towards the back of the Bubble...is this an old plane or a refit? sorry for my ignorance :-)

If you read the first post it gives details of where to go to find the new config.

Those back 6 rows of 3 seats either side of the upper deck cabin is economy, therefore, you are on a new config/refitted 744 :)

You can tell the difference between the old & new refitted LGW/MAN/GLA 744 cabins by looking at PE seat numbers:

old = 70 - 80 on upper deck (with 81 - 82 on main deck)
new = 20 - 24 on upper deck (with 14 - 19 on main deck)

Hi and welcome.

That a/c name info isn't made public until the day of the flight because of the security reasons, so you won't be able to find out in advance I am afraid.

So my odds of getting a refit 747 2nd Oct have improved a little. Just nosy and want to have a look see really, an old suite will do I guess.
