Thanks for info..!
Nice touch on connecting to reward flights, goes someway to offsetting the charges applied to those seats, that is unless there is still a hidden SQ for those also.....

Interesting stuff, however I can't help but feel that T1 is a major issue as terminal changes plus no CH will put people off.

Imagine being able to stay airside and go to the CH for brekkie after a long haul before heading to MAN. Instead it'll be a case of heading land side to revivals or no lounge at all in T1.

There will be access to a shared lounge at T1, though no details of which one yet.

This will/could be useful for me. Currently driving 2.5hrs down the M1 to LHR or now with the new route 1hr20m to MAN. Will have to see the difference in costs of ticket.

Only a small part of it. I'd guess their hand was forced by the railway situation.

Darren Wheeler wrote:Problem with launching regional flights is that soon everyone wants one from their local airport.

How long before the Facebook page is full of requests for places like:

Newcastle
Liverpool
Birmingham
Bournmouth
Exeter
and so on.

Indeed! But maybe that's the plan?! (I don't know if it is or not!..)

Could be but doubt it as that would require a huge investment, which on the back of a £80m loss for last year, my be a step too far.

I can certainly see EDI or GLA popping up though.

PS. @StillRedHot. Thanks for reposting the info, you beat me to the merging.. :D

I believe this is purely to allow the route to begin with a quick turnaround.. As the short haul network expands this will change. They will still wear VS uniform though!

Hamster wrote:Re the problem with T3 and T1, I think the problem is that an A319 can't use any gates at T3. So T1 is the alternative.

If only there was a Terminal at Heathrow that would allow short and long haul flights....

There is, actually there are three: T1, T4 and T5 ... :D

Then T2 to come (assuming it's still kitted out for domestic flying as it would have been if BMI moved in there) ): .

Interesting.. :)

Yes but VS have currently pulled out of T2 as they didn't get their way with BAA (VS isn't like BA...) If after they have finished their little hissy fit, I'm sure they could be back in with planning to move there.

That's about right. My BA return MAN>LHR flight in Sept cost me ~£120. Anything under £100 is good going now. Sigh.....I remember when it cost less than £60 a few years ago!!!!

I thought only LHR T1 and T5 could handle domestic flight stand arrivals without the need for deplaning from the rear steps and busing pax to terminals missing out the immigration/customs check points (this sometimes happens at LGW when a domestic BA flight pulls up to an international stand)
