Actually there is an eighth aircraft in use G-VTOP, she is covering for each aircraft under refit so while there are seven active at any time, currently three are refitted with the fourth in, then when the seventh is done or early next year G-VTOP is scheduled to leave the VS fleet.

Flew G-VROM on VS51 LGW - TAB last week, very good job. JAM is much MUCH better than Nova. Lovely clean cabin etc etc, odd how the screen doesn't quite fit flush into the seat anymore, probably the price of touch screen tech.
Fingers crossed for the return. y) y)

This is a useful string but does anyone have the latest high level view? jh71283's original post suggested the following:

G-VROM (Barbarella) - Complete
G-VAST (Ladybird) - Complete
G-VLIP (Hot Lips) - Complete
G-VROS (English Rose) - in progress
G-VGAL (Jersey Girl)
G-VROY (Pretty Woman)
G-VXLG (Ruby Tuesday)

That was on 31 May. Has there been any specific progress since then i.e. is G-VROS finished? And if it takes six to eight weeks to do the refit, have any of the others been done/started? The original post was 12 weeks ago.

Any further info or a generic update to the original post gratefully received.

Hi and welcome.

The information on the front page is updated as and when a/c are refitted. The info on the front page is accurate right now, G-VROS went to HKG for her refit on the 11th August, so has only been there 11 days so far.

Thanks,
Neil

Just a quick question guys.

I'm on the VS34 on Friday (hoping for a refit!), however in my booking I can't enter my Frequent Flyer number, is this anything to do with not being able to select a seat too? I can't figure out at all why it wont let me enter it, there is just a blank space with no link.

That happens to me if I'm on a redemption ... otherwise it sounds like a lovely web site bug.

Are you travelling on a reward booking? Miles plus money?

Looking at the bubble seta plan, the rear section had 5/6 rows of W seats (2 wide) now has 5/6 rows of Y seats (3 wide).

Does that mean that the Y legroom is the same as the old W legroom?

I was just wondering the same thing myself earlier today. I still can't understand why they put Y seats upstairs as I'm sure it's a backward step financially.

The old cabin had 14J /58W /379Y Totalling 451.

The new cabin has 14J /66W/ 375Y Totalling 455

If you lose 4 Economy seats but gain 8 PE seats of which you can charge more for and are very popular on the B&S fleet, I don't think its a step back financially. Except maybe all those passengers who loved the PE bubble config and refuse to fly VS ever again :P :D :o)

Thanks for the explanation. Those figures make sense when looking at the numbers in total rather than just on the top deck.

Just thinking about the refit again. Do the passengers in the back 5 rows in Y have the same amount of leg-room as the 5 rows of PE passengers who used to take up that place?

VS must be losing some revenue on each flight at the moment, whilst the upgrades are happening - as the number of Y seats is being lowered and W increased - they must surely have to err on the side of caution when selling seats at present, as obviously, they can't sell 66 PE seats, when there is still a distinct possibility of an un-refitted plane flying any route.
There must be ample possibilities of upgrades at the airport at present ):

Yes it's Miles plus money booking, is it a bug or does it just mean the FF number associated with the miles is automatically attached to the booking?

(Sorry for going OT)

I am new this forum and can only see a link to LGW refits. I am due to fly to Orlando from Man on Oct 17th. I wondered if anyone could give an indication if it will be the refitted plane. The flight code outbound is VS73 and VS74 for the return. I have my seats reserved on the outbound would that suggest it is an old plane. Hope someone can help. Cheers Gary

Hi and welcome.

By the time you fly there I'll be 4, and quite possibly 5 refitted a/c operating. You won't know if you are on a refitted a/c until OLCI opens 24 hours before your flight, the information just isn't released before hand, the seat map now has no real relevance. All the LGW/MAN rotate between both airports and all the different routes so it will just depend on how the rotations work out for your date.

Thanks,
Neil

Hi and welcome to V-Flyer. Although the topic refers to LGW refits, it is in fact the same fleet as MAN. On certain days in the week a plane will fly from LGW and its return will be to MAN and vice versa. By the time you fly out at least one, if not two more planes will have been re-fitted which should increase your chances of a refitted one.

If you have requested (note, requested, not reserved) seats on the aircraft it suggests to me that you are flying either in UC or economy. The seat maps are available for these two cabins as the configuration downstairs will still be the same after the refits. Only in PE is it different. You will know if it is a refitted plane by looking at the seat map when OLCI opens as it will show a split cabin of PE and economy in the upper deck
