Hello,
On the 10th of August 2012 myself and my family flew out from LGW to UVF St Lucia. We thought the online check in was a very useful and helpful as we checked in the night before which meant we didn't have to wake up as early to get to the airport. On our arrival to the airport we headed straight to bag drop to check in our 5 large suitcases and a buggy, the good thing about upgrading to PE was that we avoided all queues for bag drop as PE and upper class had separate bag drop to economy.

At this point every member of my family was extremely excited and couldn't wait to board our plane. Once we left bag drop we went straight to security where again we didn't have to queue with what seemed like the rest of the airport as PE and UC had their own security gate. Soon we had passed through security and were heading for the departure lounge. In the departure lounge we found some friends who were also travelling on the 10th from LGW, once they had left to get to their gate we decided to have some breakfast in a restaurant over looking all the planes which was very exciting for the children!

Once our flight was called we went to our gate to find out we were travelling on pretty woman unfortunately we had not got a refurbished plane so we were a bit disappointed but the PE cabin was actually very nice! When we were seated we were offered a glass of orange juice for the children and a glass of champagne for the adults.

Once we had taken off we were offered lunch, the menu included chicken and vegetables, mushroom risotto or lasagne and for starters smoked salmon and dessert was a Belgium chocolate cake. I chose the mushroom risotto which was very nice for aeroplane food!

The air hostesses were all very helpful and polite which made our journey even more pleasant y) . The inflight entertainment was very good but unfortunately you can't pause the movies and if you want to watch something else the film will be half way through unlike the refitted planes with the new entertainment system.

After a very long flight we eventually landed and went to security, this took a while but finally we went through and collected our bags, the staff at the airport were very helpful as they had taken the bags off the conveyer and grouped them together, we took our bags and went to enjoy a very lovely holiday!

Overall a very enjoyable journey!

Usually people find something to complain about but you appear to have been happy with the whole experience. Thanks for posting y)

The difference probably comes from (as posted by another family member) this was their first time flying long haul so they have now had a chance to see the cut backs in services that some of us have.

Thanks for the upbeat and informative TR.

Like yourself I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get a refurbished aircraft on our trip to UVF, but hey, there's a next time....
