This played on our MIA - MCO flights last month - quite a nice video, but a little funny how alot of the new stuff is prefixed with "first american carrier to provide ..."

It's great to see these improvements on AA, but there's nothing knew, indeed, all it does is bring AA to a standard that VS set, oh eight to ten years ago!

The First Class swivelling seat seems novel.

Off the top of my head, Qantas already had those in First about 3-4 years ago.

After watching this video, I could only see the twin towers in my sight. Oh how awfull, American Airlines will never be the same again. Sorry.

AA has had swivel seats in first for several years, probably about ten or twelve, since the 777s first came so perhaps longer. They're a great design for working, it's lovely to sit facing the window for example. As a bed they leave a lot to be desired. I am glad that AA is upping its game, last time I flew first on AA to LAX they served drinks in plastic prior to take off I recall :0 and then there are the famously grumpy cabin crew - I don't know how they'll take to the turn down service, perhaps lob your duvet at you as they walk by!

And in my (albeit limited) experience if you attempt to buy more than two you'll be allocated a counsellor to talk through your "problem"....

It is still the only airline in the world where the passengers have to shout instructions and help the crew off in an emergency...

I remember years ago on a overnight AA flight, I went back to the galley to get a drink and the CC was crocheting a new blanket for a grandson.

The products do look OK but they make you realise just how far behind AA have fallen. The A321 in the video looks no better than VX is now. The 777 J cabin doesn't look too bad, but I am not convinced by the look of the F seat or cabin -- I think I would prefer BA on a TATL sector.

I like the look of the transcon A321, however, I suspect this is nothing more than something to show in bankruptcy court. United are scaling back their PS Service because it simply doesn't work so it makes little sense for AA to suddenly launch flat beds on the transcon market. However, you never know and it makes for an interesting option.

Nope, that will be the AA transcon product from JFK to LAX/SFO. They are retiring their 762 fleet and replacing them with A321's

With UA pulling out of the first class market (ok, the international first class they offered on the PS service) it leaves AA with the only real first class, which gives them the monopoly on a number of corp contracts.

Off the top of my head,DL/UA/VX also use plastic glasses on the ground.

We have flown AA a few times from LAS to either MIA or ORD and really, they have been no better or worse than the rest of the bunch, VX is has a great seat up front, but the catering on trans cons just isn't that great.

I actually had one of my best airline meals on AA flying MIA-LAS in first, a great pasta dish.

Would agree that CC are brusque and IFE not up to much.

I had a four-hour delay on AA the other day (for a 40 minute flight) and then a complete shambles. I'll do a TR when I have some time. In the end we were switched onto a 757 which seemed older than me (although that can't be true). What is true is that the average age of the crew would have been the sum of my age and the plane's age!

Everything you say here IS actually true!

actually I checked and that last statement would have been true!

I am sitting on another AA flight right now and the same principal applies again: my age + aircraft age < crew age.

The funny thing is that I don't mind AA - at least they are consistent. You know exactly what you are going to get.
