Yes I want the new IFE on 747 :)

If Virgin leave me to watch something like Shrek for 10 hours on the way to Cancun, I am going to play "who can drink the bar dry fastest... Economy or me!?"

:)

You may still get something like Shrek - but atleast on JAM you'll be able to pause so you don't miss any! ;)

Perhaps worth getting an iPad? That way you'll always get to watch the things you like on that 10 hour flight :)

I have an iPad... And a Sony Z (pretty small) - but I dont have the time to be downloading stuff to watch... I just want to pick one and press GO...

Plus, I sometimes work while flying, so its good to sit the bed up and watch/work at the same time... But yes, you're right, jam/nova should not be an issue.

maybe it's just my excuse to moan and drink more alcohol haha

:D

Hey guys, ive read a bit on here and looked at Expert Flyer. Its showing no config at all for PE which im told is the way to ascertain the plane type.

On virgin website it shows config one, and upstairs all PE. Does this mean I deffo wont get a refit or is that config likely to change? If so when does it change? At checkin time?

Thanks

Hi, thoughts please...
We're on VS93 to CUN on 01/09, three of us (inc 3 yr old) and a baby on our lap.
Now obviously, we're hoping for a refurb, but, we've requested a cot/bassinet for the baby.
In the old config, the three of us could sit together with a window seat at the very front of economy, but there's no such option with the new layout - unless you can sit in the front section of economy upstairs. If I'm right these are emergency exit seats? So I'm assuming with a child and baby we would not be allowed to sit there?
So if we get a refurb, again I'm assuming that if we successfully get a cot, it's likely we will be in the middle 4 seats (3 yr old boy will cry no window for hours) and it's likely we'll only get 2 seats of the 4 and hence be split!
So looks like we might give up our cot so we can stick together - hopefully up in the bubble!

The cots have a weight limit of 9kg.

Maybe you are better having three seats by the window with baby on your lap ......

You should get three seats by a bulkhead, no reason for it to be 2 and one split up..

Good luck.

Thanks Declan, when we flew back from Dubai last year, the four seats were split between 2 families (we were three inc baby then!). The weight limit shouldn't be a problem as she's only 8 months old - but getting heavier by the day!!

Quick question relating to the re-fits.

If I book a PE flight to Orlando in February 2013, am I going to be guaranteed the new PE product (as from Heathrow) + the updated IFE regardless of whether it's a 747 or 330?

That all depends on when G-VTOP leaves the fleet. It is meant to be leaving once all the refits have been completed, at worst you would have a 7 out of 8 chance on the 747's.

After virgin's quote on the seat map system regarding flights prior to 5/1/13 I would assume that they are on course to have all aircraft refitted by this time but are not going to guarantee anything as anything can come up along the way which may throw a spanner in the works but fingers crossed, I am flying in April / May 13 and will be expecting nothing but a refit unless there is something that goes terribly wrong and means that another aircraft has to be bought in for whatever reason.

Flying to Havana on 26 Nov PE, can't prebook seat, however returning on 10 Dec in upper, have been able to select seat. It is saying config 1, with the whole upper deck upper class.

Does this mean the a/c has been selected, and I'm not getting a refit?

No, it's just that the UC cabin is remaining the same post refit, only the PE and a small section of the Economy cabin are being changed.

But the upper deck in the new config hasn't any upper class, have to say I didn't try selecting one of them, 6A and K, room with a view :D

Just re tried, out of pure curiosity, upper deck not available for selection

Hi we're travelling to mco on 10th sept and I was just wondering whether there is any chance the current a/c being refitted will be finished by then? Just purely so we have more chance of flying on a refit. :)

The a/c currently being refitted, went out nearly 3 weeks ago, so I would say there is only a slim chance at present that it will be ready by then, as it will only be 4 1/2 weeks by then. the first 3 took 6 weeks, 6 weeks and 5 weeks I believe.

We are flying PE MCO to MAN on VS074 tomorrow. Seat plan became available yesterday and it looks like we have a refurb y)

We are 2 adults and 2 children so I have 'reserved' seats 18 & 19 A & C y)

Wasn't sure whether to try the new bubble layout but in the end opted for downstairs!

Here's hoping for a good flight.

Ali :)

It will be interesting to see if that is the case. It looks like the a/c operating the VS86 back to MAN tonight is G-VTOP and that always then operates the 73 out, so maybe they will be doing a swap in MCO for your flight back - fingers crossed.

Which aircraft have been refitted already?
G-VROM (Barbarella)
G-VAST (Ladybird)
G-VLIP (Hot Lips)

Although this list shows LIP as completed, the seat map on this VFlyer site still shows the old config.

That's because Pete, who owns the site has been in Edinburgh for the month at the Festival. It should be rectified in the not too distant future

Is VROM out of action for scheduled maintenance or is there a problem?
Don't like the reduction in probability of refurb tomorrow for VS93!
