I have been watching the VS website for weeks waiting for the right dates to come along to buy an S class ticket to upgrade to UC LHR-SFO then LAX-LHR. It finally appeared this morning so i was on the phone to FC, they took all my details and said they can hold those seats until 2nd sept at 9pm...fine i thought just needed to get hold of the wife at work to double check her work was ok to take the time off.
Called FC back a couple of hours after original call and the girl says the previous person did not hold the redemption seats just held me an s-class seat, :(! :(! now no seats for 10 days around when we wanted to go over mu wife’s birthday!

So disapointing!

Disappointing and I'm afraid just plain typical of VS at the moment, a lot depends on who you get on the other end of the phone I'm afraid !

What a terrible shame :(
Ring back and ask to speak to a supervisor and explain their error, you never know

I'd be arguing that (whether the staff member did it or not) the fact they told you they would hold the price, based on the promise to commit within a time period, forms part of the whole contract.

So I'd be rather p-d off too, and I think I'd have to express my disappointment very loudly until someone rectified the mistake made by the agent of the airline.

They should have recorded the conversation and be able to listen back to see if the agent has made a mistake - it happened to me on another matter with VS, they listened to the call, admitted their mistake and rectified it.

I would call and speak to a supervisor and ask them to do that. It should be pretty clear if it was a mistake or whether there was a misunderstanding on what you asked for.

Whilst revenue tickets can be held for a given period I think - usually - reward tickets (including upgrades) cannot be held.

This is not the case, I've had them held for up to 3 days before.

That isn't true, we have held reward seats many times before, the latest occasion being less than 2 weeks ago.

Quick update, i followed up with FC and was informed that you could only hold two sets of seats at one time.
Because i had asked for an S class seat in PE so i could upgrade to a G in UC using miles they booked me S class only. I had made it clear that i wanted to upgrade to UC using miles but they only held me an S.
Anyway after 4 days of calling every morning and checking the website about 97 times a day, some seats popped up this morning one day longer than we had wanted but oh well an extra day in Vegas Woo Hoo!!
UC booked for the first time, LHR-SFO -> LAX-LHR only 269 days to go!!!!!!!!!

Glad you got it resolved in the end.

The agent really should have held the G's rather than the S's as it is MUCH more likely the G seats would go rather than there been no S fares left.

Thanks,
Neil
