Got this email today. Fairly generous in that it's all cabins, almost all booking classes. So if anyone was thinking of topping up their TPs, now's the time!

Thinking that a trip to NY might be in order ):

For the first time ever we’re giving you the chance to earn 12 bonus tier points and up to 150% bonus Flying Club miles when you fly before 28 February 2013. That’s on top of the normal miles and tier points you’d earn, in whatever cabin you choose to fly in. So fly in Premium Economy or Upper Class and our generous cabin bonuses mean you’ll earn even more.

For example, if a Premium Economy return flight to New York would normally earn you 8 tier points, with our offer, you’ll now earn 12 tier points on your first flight, and 16 tier points on your second flight, if taken before 28 February 2013. That’s 28 tier points in total!

T&C's are pretty easy and loose too:
In order to qualify for this offer your booking must be in a revenue booking class (J,C,D,I,Z,W,S,K,H,Y,B,R,L,U,M,V,E,Q,X,N or O) during the Qualifying Period. Online bookings at the Virgin Atlantic website will display the booking class

I got the mail too, and it does seem like quite a decent offer (not yet delved into the detail, but assume the bonus miles refer to base flown miles rather than 50/100% of the composite miles you'd get based on fare code/FC status). That will certainly help boost my next trip to JFK in a couple of weeks.

Even so, you have to wonder at the strategy around raising the AU renewal threshold by 10TPs and then offering up 12TPs for free. Anything to keep the bookings rolling in I suppose.

Yeah, from what I gather it's base. That would be too good to be true :|

14. The 50% and 100% extra Flying Club miles are awarded in addition to the normal Economy, Premium Economy or Upper Class Flying Club mileage earned.

16. Flying Club Silver and Gold members earn an extra 50% and 100% respectively of the base flown Economy mileage as standard, on top of the normal and bonus miles earned on the flight booked. The 50% and 100% bonus Flying Club miles are calculated using the normal cabin mileage earned and does not include the Silver and Gold member tier bonus

Having perused the Ts and Cs, the bonus miles are based on mileage earned from the relevant fare class. So works out worse then base miles if you're in a low Y bucket, but better if you're in W/J

"Normal Cabin Mileage" is the key term here - I take that to be the 50-200% base miles that you earn dependant on which fare code you are booked to.

Just registered for this promo.

Hope it applies to me. ?|

I booked "L" return on 601/602 in November/December and upgraded to "G" with miles, so hopefully, I'll get the relevant miles and TP's for the"L" booking. ):

Just had this through. Basically, in the example given, for a pe return you'd get 12 points on your first flight and 16 on your next! That's a hell of a long way to gold with just two flights..... :-)

Yep just read it..... With a total of a 12 TP bonus, it basically brings next year's requal for AU down from 40 to 28 TP y) y)

Nice one VS :D :D

Very interesting - maybe the recent cull of golds caused by the increased thresholds (and dilution of benefits B) ) has gone too far?

Will we see the return of V-Flyer gold runs, I wonder? 8D

What would the cheapest way to do it be?

Maybe a couple of weekends in the DXB sun?

Still no :o) .

This is a great offer for some, it must make Au renewal or attainment easier and incentivise a trip on VS over the dark side. Good one.

For me, it's next to useless ... but heck do I mind, no!

Show off! :o)

Since you do really not need the extra TP's xx( , the bonus miles is always nice.

So if we were to go to Orlando in 'K' class which normally earns 6TP for a return trip, would I earn 12 for the return trip on this offer? Sorry to seem dumb if I'm miles out!

if its your first flight into the promotion, you will get an extra 2 points on the first and second sector

a further flight within the promotion dates will give you an extra 4 points on 3rd and 4th sector.

So for 2 return trips you could receive an extra 12 points

You get 4 bonus TP's (2 per sector) for the first return flight in the promotion. Then 8 bonus TP's (4 per sector) for the second return flight.

Wondering why I don't get these emails?

If I'd have known about this could have registered and earned bonus for last night PE flight back from JFK.

Thanks though, will register and hopefully get the bonus for next weeks PE flight to DEL.

One question: yesterdays flight will take me from red to silver. Should I wait til I get confirmation of Silver status before registering or will it make no difference.

Thanks

I have had a look at the T+Cs and from what I make of them this bonus will apply to flights that are already booked, am I right?

If so what a bonus
