Flight on the way home being 28 hours doesn't look too promising!

I've now managed to find the Singapore option for £7k and there is a Malayasia option with a 5 hour layover. Either way, there are multiple ways for Virgin to solve this.

Another update.

Executive Office called this morning and for the first time told me why my booking was cancelled. Despite emailing me the ticket details, they never confirmed the flight with Mayalasia so they cancelled the booking.

Needless to say, I am not happy, especially given the half truths I've had from Virgin staff over the past few days.

As there is very little availability on the Mayalasia flight now, I have been offered Business out and Economy back. Again told them this was unacceptable and said that there was availability on Singapore (and at a cost less than the Mayalasia booking).

Waiting now for the call back.

I cut Virgin a lot of slack initially because I thought this situation was out of their hands. Given the information, now I'm even more disappointed that I've had to fight for hours on the phone just to get what I originally booked.

Virgin also keep on talking compensation, which is not a word I generally like to hear or take advantage of but given the circumstances I'd be open to free stuff being chucked in my general direction!

Let's hope the call back brings good news.

Absolutely. This whole experience has really dented my opinion of Virgin (well, their ticket sales centre at the very least!)

Hell has officially frozen over; Virgin are paying for me to fly BA First to Bangkok and then Thai on to Hanoi. Total cost of just north of £8k.

Very glad I finally have a resolution but somewhat annoyed I've had to fight tooth and nail to get it.
