VS041 - IFE on A340-300

Flying to San Francisco from LHR in October (on Airbus 340-300), and i was wondering if anyone could tell me what sort of entertainment system they will have on board? We have had the pleasure of an upgraded ife (is that the correct term?) before, and we are hoping for the same again.
First post to the forum, so please tell me if I've posted in the wrong place, I'll never learn otherwise! ii)

Hi and welcome to V-Flyer

On the A343 you will have the Odyssey system which is a looped system and a limited number of films unless you are lucky enough to get G-VSUN which has V-Port, the AVOD system or your plane is upgraded to an A346 in which you will definitely get V-Port

Could you tell me what the chances are of getting a flight with the 'on demand' capabilities? From your post I gather the chances are I will be on a flight with the dreaded Odyssey, but any hope of anything better is better then no hope at all. Its a LONG flight! Lol

If you look at the IFE fleet list - the-toolbox/inflight-entertainment

You will see the chances are currently 75% to 25% that you will get the horrible Odyssey IFE - n( n(

If you look at the Which Aircraft tab in The Toolbox at the top of this page you will see that G-VSUN has the highest percentage of flying this route over the other A343s and many of the other aircraft are A346s.

Having said that I would ensure you had enough alternative entertainment on iPads, laptops etc

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed then.
When will I know for sure? 24 hours before the flight (at online check in), or when i get on the plane? I will be taking my lap-top, but was hoping to not have to use it. If i have too, do the seats have power points in economy?
