Hi All,

I'm new to both the forums here and Virgin, chose Virgin specifically to get a 747 as I've yet to fly on one of these!

My wife and I are flying on VS5 (LHR to MIA) on 24/09/12 and returning on 18/10/12, as this is a long break, my budget is limited. There are currently PE seats available for the return leg at £70 each, given that I have managed to get the rearmost seats (2 side by side) for each leg in economy, is PE worth the extra?

Currently on an 'O' ticket with no miles so not likely to get an upgrade by smiling nicely :D

Cheers,

Danny.

Welcome to V-Flyer :)

£70 each is a cracking price for an economy to Premium economy upgrade :D

I'd say go for it. Yes Premium is worth it, especially at the price!!

£ 70 is just about worth it for the extra bag allowance (whihc is normally £40 at the airpoer) let alone for the bigger seat etc

Get in quick and don't wait as those offers will go pretty quick !

Wholeheartedly agree with the above posts ... £70 is absolutely worth it for PE. You will also get more miles for a future upgrade is you have an FC account.

Go for it and have a great trip !

:)

£70 :0 I paid £950 extra for a return to Cancun and I was told at the time, that was a pretty good price! they are going for nearly £1800 on my flight at the moment

Well, I tried to listen and when I looked this morning the upgrade was still available until I clicked on it, then it tells me it's no longer available and I have to upgrade the entire flight. (at a cost that is more than the outward and home bound legs added together) :(

I'd curse myself for dallying but I have a feeling this would have happened even if I'd tried to book last night.

Oh well, I'll keep an eye on it and see if it comes back,

Cheers all.

It might be worth a quick phone to VS and see what they can suggest ? Not for the life of me suggesting that they will have a £70 upgrade lurking in the system but you never know ...

The £75 (not £70, sorry) upgrade offer re-appears every time I look at my booking but is always unavailable when I click it and it tries to upsell the revised fare for the entire trip. :(!

OK, just keeping everyone updated now! :)

I called VS customer services, they were showing the £75 upgrade as available, they have taken my card details and should be reissuing my ticket with the PE seats! ^)

So it looks more like a dodgy website than a deliberate attempt to upsell, I may owe VS an apology! Fingers crossed I get the updated tickets soon!

Seriously good news if you pull this off - for comparison, you rarely see one way PE upgrades for less than £250-ish when they are available at the airport on the day...

A £75 upgrade - what a fabulous result. Make sure you use registered post when you send back the hand you have just bitten off ): ^)

The total fare for two of us in economy was £1133 return.

VS don't appear to have taken any extra money from my card yet but my itinary page is showing the updated booking for PE and new seat allocations :D

I'm very happy, I was going to keep it a surprise for my wife but I think she'll want to make use of the extra baggage allowance! ii)

Your booking always get's updated first and then the payment will be taken a day or so later, as it has to be done manually.

Once the upgrade payment is processed, a new e-ticket will be then sent to you.

Cheers James,

It seems very good value and a bit too good to be true, I'm a natural worrier and still expect the phone call to say no, it was booked in error!

You've set my mind at rest slightly y)
