In an effort to keep this thread on-target in case this isn't the announcement hinted at and to allow new visitors to find the details, I have started a new thread.

forum/index.php?f=4&t=276118&start=0&rb_v=viewtopic

Please post all new comments there instead.

I'll keep this thread open for now.

Looks like the September announcement has come forward - this however depends on the EU giving VS the slots they've taken away from BA ... not guaranteed, but a strong possibility ... exciting times!

Link to BBC news story re the ex Scotland flights.
Certainly nothing certain/confirmed about them yet it seems.

Interesting mention of Terminal 2...

Manchester - Gatwick flights are off the VS website again... and I can't access my booking (which I could do last week.)

There is space at T2 since BMI has been purchased by BA and is no longer in star alliance. There is no requirement for whatever airline fills Bmi's space to be in *A. Anyway as I have said b4, Virgin aren't currently in the plans, they have been and can be again, just odd that they seem to be telling press/partners that they will be in T2...

From what I've seen T2 is Star Alliance exclusive.

T2 is not exclusive to anyone, currently only *A are in the plans, and it is seen as theirs as all of them will be there. But it's also likely that BA might end up with some flights out of there.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but what exactly was the September announcement?

There were lots of "knowledgeable" hints from various people, and obviously various things happened in or near to September (MAN announcement, new amenity kits, great TP promotion, Moscow ii) etc.), but no one seemed to nail it conclusively in advance or identify it ex post facto. In fact there were various hints that more was to come.

Part 1 was the announcement of a domestic service (which came earlier due to the train mess)

Is there a part 2? (Is that today's news?)

How many parts are there?

When does September end? :)
