Interesting. I always thought, possible wrongly, that the main part was kept at the gate in case there was a discrepancy with numbers on board and a physical count of passengers and cards could be done to tally up.

I'd guess now with the introduction of mobile phone passes that they're just going to have to rely on the tally the system makes when they're all scanned in - no point in keeping the BP's if some are using a mobile one as a count wouldn't include those anyway!

It's just an option, people can use it, or just keep with a paper boarding pass. Mobile boarding passes have been used here in the US for a while now, and have saved me missing a flight before when I have been stuck in traffic and been able to check in on my iPhone and go straight to security without having to go and print off a paper copy. I'm glad VS are doing it. More choice is always good.

I have used BAs mobile boarding pass a few times now and I like it as my phone is in my pocket at all times its so easy to get to and not have to fumble around with paperwork. As for duty free all they are interested in is the flight number so no issues to worry about with them. I find it easier when abroad as well as its very easy to find a wi-fi connection or computer but not so easy to find a printer to print boarding card off.

I think though, that a lot of people will still opt to have a paper boarding pass, just reading the various posts regarding online check in, the consensus seems to be that people use the online check in, but still have their tickets printed at the airport ?|

Tickets or boarding passes? as they should have printed off there E-Tickets?

It works when you choose the mobile boarding pass option when checking in online. Currently available from Gatwick and Manchester - Heathrow and other airports coming soon as far as I know.

Probably with a permanent felt-tip pen :0

You don't need an app to use Passbook, VS will send you a Passbook file via email which you just open via the iOS mail app.

True, but they don't use the passbook app so could be limitations within that app.

I used a pair of Lufthansa BP's through passbook back in October and it worked very well. Stays on your lock screen so all you have to do is pull your phone out and unlock it.

Having just checked in for tomorrows VS001, only SEQ8 poor show I know, I selected the Passbook option but was told that this page cannot be found or is not available but the mobile boarding pass option is available.

Has anyone been able to use the Passbook App with VS?

steveb wrote:Yes I used one yesterday on VS15. Worked very well.

I too got the page not found message but it emailed me the pass anyways. Have you checked your email?

I have just received the email and "hey presto" there was an option to add it to Passbook, easy as that.

I'm glad to hear it worked well for you yesterday

Rusty nail

Both a permanent felt tip pen and a rusty nail would be far sharper than your average TSA employee ;)
