Good evening everyone.
We are planning a special anniversary trip which will involve flying into Vancouver, and then flying out of Miami a few weeks later. I've been using the site for a while, gathering tips etc, and now have enough miles to upgrade us to UC on both legs, subject to availability at the time of course! However, when I've been looking at flights, one way flights seem very expensive. I would have thought a one way flight would be roughly half the cost of a return, but it seems not. We may have to reconsider our itinerary if thats the case. Is this the norm?
Many thanks for your insight on this.

If you are looking at prices on Virgin's website try clicking 'more options' at the top of the booking screen. It allows you to get a price for flying in to one airport and out of another. I just tried this for your itinerary for two weeks in June 2013 in UC and got a price of around £3k per person.

One way fares are booked in to the highest fare code which is why they are so expensive. You can book one way full rewards for the same price as a round trip reward (if using just miles, if upgrading for Y or PE then it will be much more expensive booking one ways)
