Hello All,

I don't often post too much these days but l do read all the trip reports and keep up with the departure lounge!

You were all so helpful last year when we were flying UC for the first time and l learned so much from your experiences.

Sometimes l read that Virgin doesn't quite come up to expectations, and then sometimes they do. I suppose it all comes down to what we expect as pax.

I sadly this year lost my darling husband. As l have friends in the US l still intend to travel at some point in the future, so l wrote to the FC to ask if my husbands miles could be transferred to my account.

With no hesitation l received a lovely letter from Crawley Towers telling me that although this is not general practice they would with pleasure transfer the miles and look forward to welcoming me on board again soon.

Just wanted to share this.

Just to echo others here, I am very sorry for your loss.

But it's small acts of corporate generosity of this sort that make me happy to keep flying VS, whatever little niggles I have with them from time to time.

classless, having too lost my darling husband more years than before VS was in existence, can understand and empathise with your pain and sorrow. I am so delighted that VS were so sympathetic to transfer his miles to your account.

May I say one thing - the first time you fly on VS whether by paying for the flight in its entirety or by using his/your miles you may feel disloyal or guilty that you are going somewhere to enjoy yourself. Don't! It's what he would have wanted. My husband was a home bird but never stood in the way of my travels (although they were never as far-flung as they are now) and after the first couple of admittedly short-haul flights I found the confidence to go to places where I and Aer John wanted to go. Go for it!

Thank you all for your very kind and caring comments.

Honey Lamb, thank you for your message. I travelled all over the world during the 1970's but that of course was when l was much younger ii)

Hubby and l also travelled quite a lot and it is going to be difficult to now go solo, and although l am not quite ready just yet l am determined to get going again next year.

I take your advice well and truly on board, you are quite right. At first l felt guilty just going out for lunch with friends!! But that's getting easier, so l am sure that by the time l take the plunge to go across the pond l will hopefully be able to settle into my UC seat and toast my darling.

I always enjoy your fabulous trip reports and am in awe of the far flung places you travel to, it's absolutely marvellous. Keep enjoying :)

So sorry for your loss. I too can echo what honey lamb wrote and you too have obviously felt the same already, it does get easier to handle. I'm sure your late husband would be very proud of you and its lovely that VS have handled your situation as they have.
