Hi all

Having just done the taxi from Penn to 3rd Ave and the lack of space for bags - was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of good value private car/SUV services? Travelling to Newark Sat AM.

Apols if I have posted in wrong place, and thanks in advance

As rusti says, Dial7 isn't bad and they are more reliable than most of the companies you see posted in the airports...

May sound like a stupid suggestion but if you want to take a yellow cab then there are yellow cabs that are people carriers and mini 4x4s. They should carry all your luggage. :?

Problem you may run into with a car service is they charge a premium for using their larger vehicles.. may be cheaper to get two cabs.. Went shopping in NYC at xmas with the misses a few years back - dear god the amount she bought!!! we had to get additional cases?!? End of the trip, a people carrier sized yellow cab sped us nicely off to JFK with all luggage in the back :P - we just had to ask the hotel bell desk to nab us a bigger cab from the street.. easy y)

I've found Dial 7 to be fine ( other folks here have also used Carmel without issue) but have also used larger (SUV or people carrier type ) cabs without problem when I've had lots (and lots ): ) of luggage. As joeyc says just get the concierge to hail a larger vehicle for you :) .

I too have used Carmel with no problems (and they even offer miles for some of the US airlines whihc meant I managed to extend my UA miles which I would have otherwise lost!)

You can even choose the type of vehicle during the reservation process too so you can besure there is enough room for ALL your luggage - from speaking to onw driver a lot of people think they can wing it!

I did use Dial7 once but had issues with them.

Look out for discount codes/vouchers too
