Stumbled across this on the interweb ... I've never though about sleeping at an airport, but there's a whole site dedicated to it!

quite interesting. DId it once at Newark after arriving on the 17 and waiting for a continental down to SRQ at 6am. had about a 4 hour lay-over.

i am doing a similar trip in 2 weeks (017 in then Jet Blue down to MCO at 6.15)
so even if we deplane and clear immi by 12ish i only have max 5 hours. may well just bunker down till the lounges open at 5

I did it at LIN once when I was 19, travelling around Italy and ran out of money for a hostel on the last night. It wasn’t a pleasant experience and at 1am they made us move to the arrivals area because they were closing the rest of the airport.

Mates have done it when they have 6am flights out of LGW – they recommend drinking…

I nearly did it the night that Aer Lingus deposited me at LHR at 4am via Luton to connect to VS19. The only reason I didn't was because I had pre-paid for my hotel room

I did it at Gatwick, years ago with an ex. waiting for an early Excel Air flight to Preveza.
I fell asleep first.
So no change there then.

I wouldn't do it again.

Have done it for a few hours at LHR in between connecting flights, returning from the US (overnight flight in economy for me means no sleep!) and waiting on connection back to Glasgow. Just slept across several seats in the terminal and set my alarm. I'm sure I wasn't a pretty sight! No idea why you would do this as an alternative to a hotel though. I have used the Yotel at LGW which is excellent when you have x hours to wait for your connecting flight.

my thinking is , by the time I deplane, clear immigration and get to the hotel and check in it could be 1-1.30. my flight leaves at 6 so need to be back at the airport by 5 which means being up what 4.30 latest. at best I will get 4 hours sleep for around 100 dollars....I can shower in the lounge, dont see its worth it........

Had a very memorable night sleeping outside the mens toilets at Gatwick in 70's as there was industrial action and everyone was given a pillow and blanket and told to find a space. Not sure it would be as much fun now!

there was a recent TR on a.net where the OP slept in some airport out in the far east. He woke at about 3am to find the security guards had locked him in the airport! He took a few pics and went back to sleep and woke to find the airport re-opened!

I did it in PPT. Flight from IPC arrived at 0:45am. Connecting flight to BOB departed at 06:45. Can't say I enjoyed or will be doing it again however, saved a small fortune on hotel charges!
