Booked on an UC Z LHR-IAD-LHR in 15 days time, and have just found out I need to come back to the UK a day early. Is it possible to change a Z and if yes, what's the likely charge (I'm guessing if its all possible it won't be free!)?

Can't get through to the FC, so thought I'd ask here while trying to get through!

Thx as always.

Z Class date changes are at the discretion of the airline - it is the most restrictive UC fare that there is and technically non refundable or changeable unless of death or illness of family member (or of course the passenger :P ) ..

However from personal experience, they have allowed me to change the dates in this way before for £120 (admin) plus any diff in fare - although I have been lucky in the past and only had to pay the admin charge.. y)

With 15 days notice though, they will not be offering you another Z (no sale currently on with this route and inside the 21 day rule) - it is going to be an 'I' or even worse poss a 'D'... expensive fares but at least you get car service out of it. n( n(

Would be interested in the outcome. Good Luck 8D

The only option is to change to a fully flexible fare, which you can do for a £90 fee.

n( n( n( That is a bit rubbish!!

At least the admin fee has gone down - small victories :)

Neil, Is there no way to have the money already spent used against another fare class.. PE for example? Could try to be sneaky and move into an S or W fare and then upgrade with miles at the airport ): - would still have to pay a little bit more but not as much as a fully flex J ...

Interesting idea. The fare rules state:

before departure of the outbound journey prior to departure of the original scheduled flight - may be used as credit towards the purchase of a bu/br fare type at a charge of gbp90 - reprice using current fare

It doesn't specify that is has to be in the same class you are already booked in. So in theory you could change to a different class and upgrade with miles if available, I suppose.

soooo, after a call with the Au line (I sneakily rang the Au line as I thought flying in UC and being a recent ex-Au I sort of notionally justified it to myself ): ) I have been able to simply get a one-way, miles, UC seat a day early, for £200 GBP taxes.

So I get home, UC, the day earlier that I needed, for £200 and 50K miles which I know is steep but I DO want to travel UC back. The alternative was about £6K GBP for a re-book.

So not great, but not a disaster either... ?|

What GB Taxes? there are no GB taxes when flying into the UK.

Think you mean the VS fuel surcharge (which they make out is a tax when it isn't ...)
