Hey

When I booked my holiday I got my email confirming the booking and it has a 7 digit reference number. Would this be what I will use to manage my booking online? And when can I log into y booking for my sept 2013 trip? I have 11 months left I think?
Thanks

Your Virgin Atlantic booking reference will be a 6 digit code made up of numbers and letters.
It will only be available for you to use manage my booking once this tickets are issued which will be after you have paid your full balance and possibly only a month or two before travel.

I presume you have booked through Virgin Holidays? If so, they will be able to request seats for you from 90 days prior to departure.

I would expect yours to look similar.

Was this on your booking confirmation?

Yes my holiday is booked directly with virgin holidays. Should I possibly email them to get my 6 digit reference number?

Cheers

You can ring them, or your VS booking reference will be on your invoice. These usually get emailed to you now if you have booked online.

From my experience you don't have to wait until you have paid your full balance or for that long to get your number. I requested and received mine some 11 months before my departure date and I certainly hadn't paid the balance by then

You will still be able to manage your VS booking, just not select your seats.

Dont even ask about the online VH manage booking system as VH IT are even slower than VS IT as they have been promising a 'fantastic new system' for well over 2 years now :w

Well I rang virgin to ask them and apparently the 7 digit number is what I would use to log in to manage my booking but i won't be able to until the new systems are working?! :(

Your 7 digit VH booking ref wont work on the VS website (even with entering your flight details), you need your 6 digit VS PNR. The VS PNR will work even before you are ticketed (VS have a work-around in place to allow flights booked via VH to be managed before they are ticketed).

As long as your VS flights (including your return flight) are less then 11 months away (though yours may not be just yet though for travel in Sept 2013; they should be by the end of Oct though), they will be booked and be able to be managed on the VS website. You can still enter your FC details and APIS data, though you wont be able to select your seats just yet.

Ask for your VS PNR via the VH Facebook or VH Twitter pages, you get better responses from there. I gave up calling VH ages ago as their off-shore post-booking call centre is useless.

You can now book your seats 90 days in advance.

If you look at your invoice its "The Airline Booking Ref" just under "Booking Ref" that you want.

Is the pre assignment of seat for every one? As I know many people travelling in PE couldn't? I'm travelling UC and they layout for these seats will be the same? So wondered if the same applied to those?

90 day rule applies to all classes of travel. Nothing to do with the PE upgrades across the LGW and MAN fleet. Back to Vegas next year then?

The other thing to note about VS flights booked via VH is that once you can access you VS flight booking and even with your Flying Club number on the booking, the flights will not show up automatically in the list of bookings you may have on the VS website.

You will always have to enter your VS PNR manually to bring up the flight booking.

The only time this changes is when your are ticketed, which is about 14 days before departure. Only then will your flights show up automatically.

Hi There

Were going to Mexico aug 3rd 2013, we got our booking ref number 1 month after our return day. (18/09/12). We needed this number to book extra leg room seats but we have to wait 90 days before flight before we can pre assign our seats.

Hope that makes sense, I know it sucks, I just want everything planned. Also I think it's got something to do with all the plane upgrades and the fact that they do not know who is having what plane.

It's nothing to do with the plane upgrades but everything to do with upgrades to the VS IT system which is being revamped and had become beyond a joke at this stage. Hopefully the 90 day moratorium will be a thing of the past long before your flight but at this stage I wouldn't hold my breath
