I hope these don't seem like stupid questions, but is it safe to assume that the drinks/meals are included with your ticket in the Upper Class lounge in Heathrow?

I'm probably never going to fly UC again, so would like to make the most of it. What about the free treatments in the spa? Are you expected to tip or pay for one of the additional services?

Would it be frowned upon to get an alcoholic drink before my 11am flight?

Not stupid at all, it's important you enjoy the experience to the full.
All drinks and meals in the CH are free, order what you like, when you like - I can't remember the earliest time for a V-flyer ordering a mojito at the bar but it is well before 8am! :0

Tipping is a personal thing, I tend to give the therapist £3 but they don't expect it. The treatment you have is dependent on time, availability and choice. I would chat to the reception and they will go through all the options and book the best treatment or combination of treatments for you. Go the Cowshed desk soon after you arrive at the Clubhouse and then you will have the best chance of getting the treatment you want at a time that suits you.

Lastly, make sure you get to the CH early so that you can really enjoy everything it has to offer. It's such a great place and is simply the best start to any trip. y)

The UC expericence is amazing! I've flown UC 3 times but I still get excited. I like to get to the airport early so I can use the lounge and relax before a flight. At LGW they charge for treatments even though you get a complimentary treatment which is 15-30mins. And when you get on board is another great thing to experience, no matter how many times I fly UC I am always polite to the flight crew as a lot of flyers are pretty ignorant! Food and drink on board is free and most of the time delicious!! So you shouldn't have anything to worry about except to enjoy yourself! :):)

Thank you all very much for your prompt replies. I am very much looking forward to it. I will have to stay close by to LHR together there ice and early.

An 8am mojito sounds amazing. I hope they have them onboard too!

Thanks Steven.

Morning,

Thought I'd jump in and post another related question :)

We've flown a number of occasions with VS previously, but only ever as a family in PE. As newbies to the UC experience - this coming January when the wife and I are on the VS23 to LAX, can anyone advise how early before the flight we can arrive at the clubhouse in order to make the most of the experience?

Thanks,
Neil.

You can arrive at the Clubhouse as soon as it opens (07:00am) if you really want to. There are no time limits or restrictions for Clubhouse use when you are flying in Upper or using a AU FC card.

A couple of hours is generally enough for most people.

Steven have a look on the VS website LHR clubhouse section as the spa 'menu' is listed there so you can have a read beforehand and have an idea of whats on offer (free and paid for) and what you might like and can have a mini list of what you want in your mind when you get to the spa.

I belive a mojito has been ordered at 7.00am ! However I am a v-flyer heretic and don't like them. The red head is an acceptable alternative as is a straight glass of champers! I don't think the make them on board as they don't have all the ingredients (or maybe no ones ever ordered one when I've flown)

Enjoy!

Blimey, a mojito at 6.50? Never mind a spa and a recording desk, VS should be opening up a sub-branch of Alcoholics Anonymous in there...

Think they would still come around offering champagne refills?

To be fair to myself I was merely topping up from the alcohol abuse suffered the night before - I slept the whole flight :D

And that's your defence? :)

We arrived just after 10.30am for VS023 earlier this year. Was plenty of time, managed to book a treatment, have lunch, a few drinks, mill about and relax :)

I have arrived in the CH at 9am for a 4pm flight because of connecting flights. There was a guy there before me who was still there when I left!

As Tonty says, look at the website for a list of the free and paid for treatments and don't be shy about asking for champagne or similar at the crack of dawn. We've all done it! :D
