I've only travelled in economy and premium before so was really looking forward to my first trip in Upper.
Upper more than matched my (high) expectations. Tristar picked us up on time and we were at the DTCI within 45 minutes. We were whisked through in no time at all and made our way straight to the lounge. Although I'd read lots of reviews and seen lots of pictures, I was amazed by how large it is. I knew there was never going to be enough time to get round it all, so I settled for a glass of bubbly before having lunch (well, three course lunch obviously). The famous burger went down a treat. We then played pool before heading to the gate when called.
Very nice to skip the queue and board straight away and I was impressed to have a separate entrance to the plane. We were very embarrassingly caught by a crewmember taking a picture as soon as we sat down but all was averted when she offered to take a snap for us - much appreciated once the blushing had gone.
Once we were in the air another crew member came round and greeted us by name (impressive) and took our orders. The food was either good (for a plane) or excellent. Afternoon tea was fantastic although I couldn't manage the cheese trolley.
Naturally as first time Upper PAX on a leisure trip we spent a fair amount of time at the bar - the crew were very attentive and amusing to talk to. I'd read how the bar can be underused and it probably was on this flight too. Apart from us and two other PAX it wasn't really used at all. I think it's a huge plus point to the Upper experience though, especially when you can have such a good laugh with the crew.
Before I knew it we only had a couple of hours left so I quickly jumped into bed, just to experience it really! The bed was comfy and it just felt so strange to by lying in a bed on a plane (a novelty for me at age 29).
In summary we were treated fantastically and the crew were great fun. Nothing was too much trouble. Upper lived up to the hype and I look forward to travelling up at the front again.
