Just thought I would post this for information, as we used to love going to see the Lion enclosure in the MGM every time we went to Vegas. So was quite dismayed that it had gone, the chap there said their contract was not renewed after 11 years in January when new owners took over. They decided they would get more profit by building a new bar and high end restaurant than having a free lion enclosure.I would not agree as it was always crowded whenever we went and those people would eat in the rainforest restaurant or stay and play in the casino, another sign of the times.(they will be charging for the fountains at the Bellagio next) v(

When we were in Vegas in February I noticed that the flames at the MGM Grand were not lit either, also there was no water in "The Hudson River" at NY NY, Vegas is starting to look very shabby in places :-(

Don't know for sure about the flames, but if it was anything like the volcano at the mirage last time I was there, could be simply out for maintenance.

As for the New York New York hudson, there are heavy water restrictions operating at the moment. It is something to do with the way the water isn't pumped in a closed system and reused efficiently enough or something like that... it has been dry for a while I am afraid n( Would have thought it would have been remedied by now, but looks like there is penny squeezing going on everywhere and looks like a water feature, that does not generate revenue, does not rank highly on their fix list... Maybe some day....

But you are right, some parts of town are looking a bit dated. :( :(

I see BA have a sale on currently through Expedia, 5 nights staying in a lake view room at the Bellagio, flying from LGW, 1700 for 2! Very tempting I have to say.
