Not sure if this has been mentioned but I'm flying LGW to Cancun, flying out towards the end of Dec in PE, no seat map available, flying back early Jan in PE, seat map available and showing as the new config.

Yeah has been the topic of much discussion ):

PE seats before 6 Jan 13 isn't available. The refits "should" be completed by then, which is why they won't open up seat requests until then

Hi,

I'm a newbie to the board, so apologise if this question has been asked over and over again! Am flying LGW-MCO in January and seating plan shows a refit with the PE on the top deck mixed with economy. The issue of the toilets has already been mentioned, but could somebody just confirm who has access to the toilets on the lower deck between the UC and PE seating and between the PE and the economy seating. Plus, assume there is a curtain between the PE and economy seating on the lower deck? Just deciding where to sit in PE as used to the bubble - as have heard that the PE service / seats are better on the lower deck compared to the shared bubble.

Any help much appeciated.

Welcome to the site.

Having just flown downstairs in the new PE cabin I can certainly recommend it. We didn't miss the bubble at all, and while we didn't pop upstairs to have a look, so can't comment on how that is now, we certainly will be choosing downstairs as our number 1 option when flying PE from now on.

Regarding the toilets, there is a PE toilet at the rear of the cabin which we only saw PE pax using. The toilet between PE and UC next to the front galley was used by a number of PE pax without the crew saying anything.

I can't 100% remember if there was a curtain between PE and Y, but I believe there was, and there is quite a big area between entering the PE cabin and the main part of the Y cabin (there are the stairs between them).

I think the general consensus (dons asbestos clothing) is that on a refit the bubble is not what it used to be and downstairs is better.

Wow - thank you for your swift and helpful replies. Think I will try downstairs PE, as the majority of reviews have said it is better. We normally try and book the seats right at the back of the bubble, so we don't get lots of people walking past us on the way to the toilets (Ok on outbound, but not on return flight when trying to get some shut-eye) - but as there is now Y seating there, it would not have the same benefit. Looking forward to flying on a refit though!

To know if it is a refit a/c, look at the seat map and in the bubble/upstairs if it is half PE and half economy then it is a refit, if it is all just PE then it is not a refit.

Thanks,
Neil

Hi Neil, yes it is, fingers crossed it stays the same y) My hubby called yesterday because it was letting you select the seats, but when you submitted them, it said they were unavaible :? but some seat were looking like they were booked, as we were trying to book! Very odd, so it now looks like they have booked us on 19 D, E, F, G, as hubby said we were travling with our little girl whos 3 & my dad. From what i've read the downstairs PE is now a bit better than the new bubble?

Sorry for all the questions! :#

The seat map does become available but while it looks like you can select seats, it doesn't save them, which is the issue you were getting yesterday.

It seems, as you have found out, the system is doing most of the allocating as the flights are full and it is trying to get as many families/groups together as possible. Make sure you do OLCI still as it will help secure your seats.

We were very happy in the downstairs cabin on our flight a couple of weeks ago, so hopefully you will be the same on your flight. It is good also as it is the first cabin to be let off the plane which helps in the immigration hall (although saying that, it was dead when we entered it).

Have a great flight.

I was trying to assist a client with Premium Economy seat selection on the MAN/LAS flight for yesterday (25OCT) and there was no opportunity to preselect.. as noted previously this appears to have already done by VS on the customers behalf.
The clients (family of 3 inc teen) had been given 3 out of 4 centre and there was no further opportunity (even at on-line check in bang on 23 hours 59 minutes before flight) to choose preferred seating. He particularly wanted upstairs and argued he'd paid a "premium" fare for an opportunity that realistically was never there. At least I was able to tell him he had got a refitted plane!
I'm flying PE MAN/MCO 747 on 07 NOV - there's just 2 of us and my hope is for a window/next. If I get the request noted in the PNR is it likely anyone will take any notice?

If Ladybird was anything to go by they've forgotten to connect a few cables!

Bubble PE no spotlights working on LHS (handy for sleeping!) Bubble econ crew couldn't turn the lights down!

And a few problems with IFE, makes you wonder how long these refits are going to look new for?

I was meant to be on the VS 31 yesterday (28th October) but was told the inbound from Orlando went technical. V-flyer is showing Pretty Woman as having flown it? Was it meant to be Pretty Woman and it was delayed?

Done anyone have any more info.

It's showing as Pretty Woman today so will let you know what they missed on refit

Yesterdays 31 was cancelled and is operating tomorrow instead now. ROY will be operating today's scheduled 31 and tomorrows rescheduled one from yesterday.
