I have been a Gold card member for about 8 years. This year, because of they now make you earn 40 TP for renewal, I may miss the target by literally 1 tier point.

I would hope because of loyalty that Virgin might forgive me 1 year because I was so close and renew my Gold anyway. However, I was curious what other people might think.

You can but ask, and if no the first time try again. VS tends to stick to its rules but with eight years in the bag you should (in my book) get some favour. Let us know?

Agreed with slinky, if you call and speak to someone that sticks to the playbook ask for a supervisor.. they may be able to make the call. Personally, with that kind of loyalty, I think they should let this one slide.

On the other hand, were they not trying to cut back on the number of AUs with the TP increase.... may very well get a no and no doubt a party line about the benefits of silver I'm afraid n( n(

Let us know how it goes though... hear that people, we may only have to aim for 39 :P

Thanks for your opinions all. My tier points don't expire until end of Feb (although I already have a flight booked at the end of March), so I will see what prices will be like for Christmas. I usually fly out in Y and back in PE (which would only give me 5 tier points, not the 6 that I need). If they have their usual UC sale, I might be able to finagle the 6 points I will need by flying out in Economy and back in UC. Right now a full PE fare is £989, which is a bit too much for me to pay just to get the 1 extra tier point.

It's a shame that Virgin lost the BMI connection. When I return from the US after Xmas, I actually need to fly to Edinburgh. In the past, the BMI flight would have given me that final tier point that I needed!

Thanks for letting me know at240! I called Flying Club. Apparently I had a "no contact" setting on my account (something I never would have put on myself), which is why I never received the email. In any case, they sorted me out so that I now have the promotion (because I am AU). With my flight in October and my upcoming flight in November, I will have more than enough tier points now!

So happy now!
