Just called and there is availability to upgrade to UC return for £900 plus 7500 miles. Am very tempted..... Is it likely to get an upgrade for less at the airport?
That depends, how much is it without the miles?
"Possible", yes, "likely" who can tell. There will be people with stories of doing just that for a finger off a Twix
but, on the other hand, there may be no upgrades at all offered at the airport, particularly if others take up this offer. Only the deities of revenue management can give a definitive answer, and they won't be saying, as otherwise no one would ever book UC in advance.
The standard answer is probably the best - if it feels right for you now, do it and never look at the fares again.

We can get better, because we're not dead yet
Good advice, thank you. I am on an MPM fare so what the hell... You only live once eh?
for your dates currently, website is showing MPM in PE for £1008 plus 7500 miles, or MPM in UC for £1925.20 plus 15000 miles.
What routes and dates are we talking about here, have I missed a post?
the OP's dates are in the flight planner, leaving tomorrow
Wow. Asked at the VA desk at LGW and they quoted over £900 for one way upgrade.
That's a shame, I always believe that if you see a price you are happy with you should go for it there and then, you never know how long it will be available for. Hope you have a great flight anyway though.
I have phoned and upgraded for the return

Great news, enjoy it!
And a very good flight it was too! A little bumpy at times but no complaints.

Glad you managed to upgrade and it sounds like it was worth it!
