I live equidistant between both MAN and LGW and am about to book 3 PE seats to MCO, is there any preference of airport or aircraft I should be aware of? I know the MAN flights are slightly shorter which might be the clincher.

The planes and service will be the same. Not sure if there is a price difference though.

And even though you are mid way between is one journey easier than the other? And what are the costs - trains, hotel, car parking/petrol if you drive etc

Gatwick airport is a far more consumer friendly. I try to avoid Manchester at all costs

I live 130 miles north of Manchester and have used all the UK airports served by Virgin. Nothing wrong with any of them and you could experience a miserable agent or other staff at any!
I would base your decision on cost at the time you want to fly. I am presently staying overnight at Gatwick to catch V43 to Las Vegas tomorrow . Managed to get a really good deal via Virgin Holidays in PE both ways, cheaper than from MAN including the connection etc but not as convenient.
Remember that A330 operate the route from MAN which should enable you to reserve a specific seat in advance. y)

Thank you just the sort of snippet I was after!

Just to clarify on that point. From 5th January you will be able to select seats on all flights 90 days before your flight, this is the same regardless of a/c type, so it really shouldn't be something that should affect your decision as it isn't actually a perk or extra that you would get by choosing MAN.

I personally would choose MAN, as the poster above stated, the M25 alone is enough reason to avoid Gatwick for me.
