Perhaps this may not be viewed as great result by the experienced among us, but I think it is amazing...
In August I purchased an economy flight to/from NY for my wife and daughter in February 2013 (Daughter's 21st birthday).
It cost me £300 plus 35,000 miles.
Today I rang the Gold Flying Club and asked if there was any chance of an upgrade. I thought the answer was bound to be 'no' as I got the economy seats so cheap in the first place.
Well I am very impressed, the lady on the phone managed to upgrade the 2 of them to UC on the way out and PE on the return. This cost me £118 each and 116,000 miles (they refunded the 35,000 miles).
So the total cost of their flights is £418 each plus 58,000 miles each.
That seems such a bargain to me and I am over the moon with the customer service from Virgin.
I wanted to tell this story because you hear quite a lot of negativity about the VA flying club, so I wanted to share a very positive experience!!
Cheers
