Hi everyone,
I am flying from LAS - LGW tomorrow. I have just checked on tje status of todays VS043_ and VS044 and they seem to not exist, but Mccarran departure boards show cancelled. I can see no other reference to these flights being cancelled today or in fact, flying today even though they are scheduled.
Does anyone have any information on this?

VS 43 isn't operating every day due to
Low load factors on the route at this time of year. The days it's not flying were determined several weeks ago so it is all planned and happens every year.

Interesting that they have been cancelled due to low load factors. Returned on LAS-LGW on the 16th and I think there was standing room only!
Think that the PA announced 404? On board.
When the fleet is eventually all on lease as opposed to owned Virgin may be forced to operate the planes regardless to comply with contractual obligations. v(
As previously stated the decision would have been taken some time ago and you should have been kept fully informed of any changes in the schedule.

I don't think that the lease owner would (or even could) force VS to operate a particular flight on a leased plane as part of a contract.

It's not like a plane lease is on a 'pay per flight' basis the holder gets an agreed fee no matter how much or little a plane is used.

And taking into all costs it could actually be cheaper for VS not to operate a flight than to operate a flight with low loads

I think - though ISTBC - the OP is flying "tomorrow". Therefore no reason to keep them informed of the status of "today's" flights.

I had this this time last year. My Sat outbound was fine but they cancelled my originally planned Tues return and rescheduled me for a Wed return instead, thus rendering me an additional night in Vegas. Thankfully my host was able to accommodate me at a good rate for the additional night.

It is due to low loads as they cancel their midweek ones more regularly as they don't want their planes flying too empty.

As Hazban has stated, the 16 Nov flight was full but that was due to a large number of people I overheard were returning from a Microsoft convention.
