I've purchased exit seats for my upcoming flight to Miami and have received e-mail confirmation, however there is no reference to this purchase in 'Manage my Booking'. Is this correct and if so how does Virgin know how many of these seats have been purchased to avoid over selling.

Also this flight is normally operated by a 747 but recently there has been increased usage of the A340. There are more exit seats on the 747 so what happens if there sell all the exit seats for the 747 then change the aircraft to A340?

Confused!

Thanks.

VS will assign you seats (i think this is because they are in slightly different locations depending on the actual plane) and you won't be able to do OLCI either.

Not sure about the numbers they sell seats. Maybe they don't pre sell then all to allow for this ( and to be able to offer them at the airport too)

The exit row seats are assigned at check-in so you can be assessed for viability... basically are you able to operate the doors in an emergency - they will not appear on Manage my Booking.

I don't think VS oversell the Exit Row seats as there is always someone wanting that extra bit of legroom, they will be filled.

If you have paid for it but don't get it due to being unsuitable or due to a change of aircraft meaning less of the seats, your money will be refunded - lord knows how long that will take though.. best bet to guarentee them would be to get to the airport in plenty of time and check in to snag any seats available.

Hope this helps 8D

Thanks guys,

If my Exit Seats are not on Manage my Booking, will I be able to select seats (non exit) when the 90 day opens, just in case they can not honour our Exit Seats.

I recently purchased an exit row seat on MAN-MCO, and was told various different things by various different CSA's at Virgin.
2 days before the flight, the seat plan changed to a refit 744, and it showed my seat as 75K (upstairs window). It could not be changed (not that I would have done ): ), managed to check in online 24 hrs before, and it was still the same seat allocated at MAN check in desk.
From my experience, it's a case of what you get allocated is what you will get, unless you really are not happy with where you have been put and there is someone who will swap with you.
Hope this helps.

Apologies just seen this post. :#

Nope, you pay for exit row they assume you are getting exit row. It is one of those things done at check-in, not in MMB and you can't actually do online check-in to my recollection ?| Perhaps things have changed per Stuart's experience, but they def need to "evaluate" those in the exit row seats, hence having to stop by the check-in desks :?

If they cannot accommodate the exit row request then they will reseat you in whatever is available. This may mean moving other pax around.. hence the old adage, your seat requests are only your when you are sitting in them.. there are of course exceptions to this rule :P
