Arrived back from the USA this morning and noticed that the 346 now have a new IFE operating system. I know VERA has been around for a few months, but navigating around is completely different. I didn't use it much, but did notice that the play, pause etc button needs a further prompt to work. It was also a bit slow throughout the flight and the sound would stutter a bit.

December's programme was live, which is unusual as its more likely to run over.

Sounds the same to me :P :P

Yeh it has been rebranded as VERA - I do not believe that they have upgraded them all yet though, sorry can't be definitive been having fun with JAM lately (or VERA Touch, if you subscribe to this newfangled labeling system ii) )

I haven't tried the JAM yet, but did fly Virgin Australia last weekend SYD to LAX and it was similar to that. One other addition is that you can now watch a trailer for films - certainly on new releases.

The programming has been called VERA for a while but when it started up it still asked the question have you used Vport before. The look, feel and navigation is completely different to what I had 2 weeks ago on the 346.

Huh, I knew that v:port was being upgraded, but don't think there was a handle on when as the contract had (realtively speaking) just been awarded.

Was it going to be a software upgrade or will it be a full overhaul of the screens and control system ?|

The update is only a software update to bring the look of v:port upto date but also run more smoothly. A new safety video will also be introduced next year as part of the upgrade.

They will also start trialling inboard wifi next year. So a lot more is in the pipeline.

On my flights to and from Dubai over the last week....on "Dancing Queen" we had the old version of V-port available and how clunky it feels after using VERA touch on my last few flights. :0

Then returning on Monday on "Soul Sister" we had the updated sofeware version which actually looks much more like VERA touch and was a little easier to use though it did take a while to get use to.... :w
