They offer their own version to gold card holders - the SSA (Supplementary Silver Account) and KA (Kid's Account).

With these, kids under 12 can also join Flying Club and all KA miles go into the gold card holder's account. For the SSA, the gold holder can nominate someone at the same address to receive a silver card, and while they earn their own mileage in their own right, the gold holder can spend miles from their account too.

Of course, the fact that you can pool miles from more than one account to pay for a reward means I'm not sure what you're missing from not having the BA setup. Granted, if the reward doesn't split into neat, big, chunks when halved then the BA scheme has some benefits (say you needed an extra 12,499 miles or something like that) but I don't see what the huge deal is with not offering it...

All agreed Mr P apart from one item, BA family accounts are available to any tier of EC, whereas on VS you have to be Au. I'm currently Bronze (I know, the shame but I am working back to Silver) on BAEC and my family account has been maintained since I was BAEC Gold all the way down to Blue! VS could offer something similar.

For those of us with young family, its the single most annoying thing about flying club, (actually no, thats SQ on reward seats)...Anyway... ii)

To be paying for a person to be in a seat (full fare/ sale fare/reward + SQ) and gain no recognition for that is a disgrace. Under 12's may qualify for a tiny reduced fare, but to strip all benefit on the back of this v( VS please tell me the difference a 6- 7 yr old pax is to a 12yr old...?

I hate to think of the amount of miles savvy customers who've switched, we only have the one ankle biter, if we'd had anymore a full move over to BA's Household Account would be a no brainer...Attached link for those currently unaware of what the competition offer... |:)

And as mentioned in historic posts....VS seem quiet comfortable to push the "added benefit" of gaining FC Miles when your trusty pet will earn you 1,000 bonus Flying Club miles each flight ..... v(

Sorry to get on my hobby horse, but I have a real issue with this... B)

Now I make my flight choices on convenience and price (living in Spain offers much cheaper flight options) I have lost my au status so with a family joining BAEC is a no brainier. On the downside for VS if there Is now a 50/50 choice between VS and BA then the reward miles make BA the first choice. Can't help but think that VS is missing a trick restricting family membership to AU's

ScubaRoo wrote:As mentioned above, only travel VS for leisure, so unlikely to ever get Gold status with a couple of trips a year.

BA's household account is open to all members regardless of tier status and their proper companion award with their BA Amex PP card are real bonuses and would make me seriously consider using them in preference to VS.

Wonder if its worth an email to VS CS...?

Tried before, automated corporate response about this being available by offering to AU.... Similar response on F'book.... As they watch families disappearing to the competition,... ?|

Package your kids up in a cat box I say, least they'll be acknowledged....

Wonder if opening a FC account with false DoB and buying adult fares would work.... :? would act as a stand-alone account.... :w
