I haven't flown first etc long haul but mrs voyager to be has and so we could compare service, that said I had recently flown to Dubai on business ,econ, with emirates and was hugely impressed.
On our arrival from Glasgow checked bags into twilight check in, very good and lady at desk was excellent and wishing us well for our wedding, stayed in Hilton night before ,which was ok. As flight was at 9 we got up a wee bit early so we could have breakfast in clubhouse, whizzed through security , had eggs benedict in clubhouse, yum and mrs voyager to be had massage. Staff were lovely and I felt if this is the the shape of things to come then we are aim for a treat.
Boarded quickly ,champers from lovely attendant , some chat and was impressed with the UC cabin. We were on Pretty Woman (rather apt !). Boarding took ages ,flight was full and only one entrance was being used, poor in my opinion.
Pushed back off we went flight was pretty smooth, the seat and IFE were excellent.
We were addressed by our names, nice give menu cards and had lunch. Starter ok, beef chewy and doesn't exactly look good on plate.I was offered a few glasses of wines, but mrs v to be was ignored ! For me it appeared that the lunch service was a going thru the motions exercise. I had also noticed that the PE passengers were using the UC toilets and some were in the cabin talking to other passengers, one tried to stay but was told to leave by fsm .
I wasn't asked or given a landing card,I had no idea I needed one as the flight attendant seemed to have missed me, I was in 6k, maybe I should have asked right away a decision I would regret later.
We decided to go to bar for one glass of fizz, waited for a few mins for attendant to arrive served ,no chat but that's ok . Based on the size of the UC cabin on this flight I am not sure the bar is absolutely necessary.
Landed at Tobago first and waited on Tarmac as a count was done, no offer of water or any drinks,I asked about landing card for grenadA ,told I would need one but they had ran out !
Took of 20 min flight ,rather bumpy landing. Remember landing card ? Had to fill one ouT we were first off but last out, over an hour in immigrAtion, I took the blame from mrs v to be,but I felt the cards should have been in the menus etc in the cabin, or is that too much to ask ?
Overall and comparing it to mrs v united airlines experience of business a month ago, where the staff were very willing to serve and my own experiences and comparing it to the clubhouse, we weren't blown away. For me the UC experience on flights like this is an afterthought, lets see if return flight is any better. Apologies for small typos on iPad
