Seat advice

In anticipation of seat map opening tomorrow LHR to SYD via HK any advise on seats in UC,we flew to Chicago in Aug and had seats that did not face each other,don't know if it will be same type of plane or not

LHR-SYD will be on a A340, I think general opinion is that either seats 2-5K (2k maybe a bit close to WC) or 10-14A are the preferred choices, both options face the back wall of the suites on the opposite side of the aircraft and consequently you have nobody facing you and looking in.

I much prefer sitting next too rather than opposite my partner on the A340, 10 & 11a are our favourites seats mid cabin and not too close to the bar, and I know many people like 3 & 4K ive never tried them and it might be worth noting that on some night flights (im not 100% certain which ones) these seats may be in a snooze zone which may or may not be to your liking?

Any of those seats should be good for you, and think are the best option for flying as a couple on the A340

The SYD/HKG flights don't have the snooze zone.

To be honest I would go for low Ks above the higher As -- I think the greater distance from the bar and galley is an advantage. The private seats facing the wall run to around 7K.

I know many people like 3 & 4K ive never tried them and it might be worth noting that on some night flights (im not 100% certain which ones) these seats may be in a snooze zone which may or may not be to your liking?

Thanks for the link on the snooze zone, I did look myself before replying to try and check whether Sydney flights were included but couldn't find the info!

Have to say I don't find there are any noise issues from bar or galley which are still a fair way from seats 10&11a and personally found passing toilet traffic in 3k slightly more bothersome, that being said it wouldn't stop me sitting in 3k again , but I personally prefer 10&11a, each to their own and all that y)

Yes, you're right -- I wouldn't want to be in 2K but others really like it. Horses for courses really -- they are all pretty good seats. y)

Come to think of it, I am not even convinced I like the seats that face the wall -- you feel a bit isolated if you are on your own!

I fly this route every few months, definitely reckon 9A, 10A or 11A are the best seats on the plane. Storage isnt shared, the aise isnt shared, good distance from bar and toilets (no noise) and being on the Port side of the plane gives you a great view of sunrise over the Blue Mountains and then the Sydney CBD skyline and harbour as you fly in.
