As readers will know we could not see our seating options until OLCI opened up 24 hours before, after missing a call from Virgin Atlantic during the afternoon of the 25th I decided to logon to our booking and low and behold I could select our seats and we were on a re-fitted plane

We arrived at Gatwick about 1300 on the 26th for the Twilight check in, once somebody manned the desk this was plain sailing, we had to approach the Virgin desk to ask for somebody to man it though.
27th November - dropped the hire car off and proceeded with our boarding cards, security was quick which left us just an hour to kill in the duty free before boarding commenced.
We boarded quickly and took our seats in PE, we were on Jersey Girl downstairs and it was lovely. UC was full as was the bubble upstairs, economy was nearly empty. No amenity kits, but I came prepared after reading earlier reports.
We settled in, drank our bubbly and waited for take-off, this was delayed due to the late arrival of some passengers (these things happen), but another glass of bubbly helped. Took off slightly late and once up and running started to look at the entertainment on offer on VERA. This is great, watched four episodes’ of King of Thrones and then tried to have a little nap, this was rudely interrupted by the person behind me not grasping the concept of the TOUCH SCREENS, I think she thought the harder she bashed it the quicker it would work, this made me nervous of the flight back as this is overnight. Not sure what Virgin can do other than put some polite signs up.
Lunch was served, salmon starter, I had the thai curry and the other half a vegetable lasagne not a mushroom in sight. Small bottle of wine each, then offered tea / coffee, baileys / brandy.
The cabin crew were attentive at all times and nothing was too much trouble, unlike the flight back (I will explain on the homeward bound TR).
Landed 8 hours later and flew through immigration, we got off the plane straight after UC which helped. Bags off quickly straight onto our transfer.
All in all a great flight, the decision to pay the extra and go PE was most definitely worth it, the extra leg room, foot rests, service from cabin crew, priority boarding, extra baggage allowance, it made the start of our holiday all the more relaxed, thank you Virgin
