Trying to route in Vegas for some specific dates.

Very limited reward options (looking at G's)

Can get out to lax then hop across via Delta etc.

But return showing blanks (LAX/SFO), looked at via NY, but VA flights don't look good value plus its an extra 6.5hrs... ][|)

So, hatching a plan...
YVR is only 2.5hrs from LAS, with Air Canada/ £140. Also a mention of Westjet (should I be wary??)
Low and behold YVR is wide open for returns in G.. |:) Possible to programme in 3 nights in YVR....Worth a visit for a couple of days?

Likely chances of more G's opening up at LAX I'm guessing unlikely..

Westjet is just fine. I've used it a couple of times

Vancouver is a lovely city and well worth a visit. I've been there twice and just loved it.

We've been having the exact same issues, although ours our outbound as managed to grab a couple of G's back from SFO. We have also therefore looked at YVR as an option for our outbound (even posted a thread about it).

Currently we have decided to stick with our original flights which are P PE reward fares to LAX as I have noticed that they seem to be releasing more and more UC reward seats for the early and mid months of the year which weren't available when I initially started looking. I'm therefore hoping/thinking that after the initial batch they let them pretty much sell out and then unless the flights are very busy they release some more a few months down the line.

Obviously it's a gamble to wait, you could always book YVR and then pay the change fee if your preferred option becomes available, which would still prob work out cheaper than internal flights.
