Of course they do but generally it is quieter in the PE cabin as there are fewer passengers and usually fewer children. I have no problem sharing the bubble with the economy I am just thinking in terms of sleeping.

I am flying to Montego Bay on 31st March and was surprised that I was able to pre book my PE seats through 'Manage My Booking' yesterday (31st December). Although the 90 day milestone had been reached I had previously been led to believe I would not be able to reserve PE seats until 6th January, 2013.

There were a few pairs available in the bubble, which have now all gone, and plenty of availability on the main deck.

that is the point of interest I was referring to :?

Perhaps someone might have the answer, after all there is now only 20 PE seats up in that 'bubble' so surely VH don't get an opportunity to "reserve" a certain number of those seats.

I suspect the answer is yes they do...my next flight opened at 90 days and instantly one whole block of 10 was blocked off. since then only me and one other have taken seats in the bubble so i think its highly unlikely all the right hand side were taken in the first 30 seconds :?

It would seem they do as this is on their website 'We have an exclusive allocation of seats on the upper deck for 747 aircraft, so you can travel Premium Economy with the experience of the upper deck. Seats are confirmed at the time of booking.'

Just booked a trip to Vegas in August with Virgin Holidays. Was told they cannot book seats in the bubble for PE anymore and I will have to wait till 90 days before to try and reserve them directly with VS.

Lots of conflicting information it seems!

I have just had a message back from VH saying that as we requested bubble seats for both legs at the time of booking, we ring them 72 hours prior to flying and they will let us know our seat numbers and no need to reserve any seats online

Sorry, bit cryptic for my tiny brain. Are VH talking rubbish then?

The plot thickens....

I enquired on the Virgin Holidays Facebook page and the girl said it was not possible to reserve seats with both Virgin Holidays and Virgin Atlantic as this would effectively mean I had reserved 2 sets of seats. She told me to enquire with Virgin Atlantic to know the specifics.

...which I then did. From what I understand of Howard's reply: I can request seats with Virgin Hols, but then if I choose to do so I can also choose to select seats at T-90 days although this would replace any request that Virgin Holidays placed.

So I think the plane of action is to request seats with Virgin Hols, check to see if there are any bubble seats at T-90 and take them if there are, if not leave the bubble request as it is.

I'm guessing Virgin Hols will start to remove their "guranteed bubble seat" advertising from the brochures soon.

My experience is that the rules of the game change, are different from person to person, and the only person you should trust to manage your booking is yourself. Definitely, without question, check MMB at T-90 days for sure, possibly a few days before just in case.

So, what would people recommend then, being downstairs or up? Does the economy section alter the way the cabin feels, are you separated from them?

I haven't sat downstairs but still liked the seating in the bubble. There is a curtain pulled across behind the PE seating to separate it from the economy section. People came through from economy to use the toilets but there was no problem at all - no different to all PE really.

I think il try and get the bubble on the way back from Vegas but not going. Due to taking longer to disembark. I think it's wrong that the economy passengers behind get To get off before pe in the bubble.
Looking forward to my first taste of pe though after travelling in economy twice before.

Personally I would not travel PE in the bubble any longer due to the time to get off. But if you have never experienced it then I think doing it on the way back is worth it.

Is it that much longer? There's only 30 economy passengers behind you. Unless they also let downstairs economy go too, then I can see how the wait at immigration could be long!
