I've swopped my seats a few times now on the Virgin Atlantic "manage your flight" website but still can't decide if I'm happy with where I'm sat for my flight in a few weeks time. SO wanted to ask some advice on where you would recommend for a nervous flyer on the 2-cabined Airbus A330-300.

With a 10 hour flight almost predicted I'd like to sit somewhere I'll feel most comfortable and least nervous if/when the turbulence hits.

I can't decide whether sitting in the middle of the plane would be best or along one of the sides of the plane. I'll be sat with my girlfriend so would need 2 seats together really.

At the moment I'm sat in 52F and 52G outbound and 45H/K return flight. But as some nearer the back have become available again (especially on the outbound flight) I can't decide if I should move further back for a window seat?

Thanks everyone.

The effects of turbulence are felt more towards the rear (tail end) of any aircraft.

You may be better off sitting as near to the front of the economy cabin as you can.

Many thanks Mitchja! I was thinking over the wings may be better? Still can't decide if I'd rather look out of the window or not....lol

I've found the Extra Legroom seats to be a bit of a bargain;
We used them for our Dubai trip in the summer and my sister used them on her South Africa trip recently.
They tend to be nearer the front of the econ cabin which is generally a better place to be. Starting at £30 it's good value in my view.

Oh, and as someone who, frustratingly, hates turbulence, I find looking out of the window helps. Seeing the wings flex reminds me that its just like the suspension moving on the car - nothing to worry about.
I tell myself that its just like driving on a cobbled street - bumpy but safe!

I second that, it's my seat of choice if I can't get any further up the plane.

But, I find that anywhere on the wings is best, avoid the back!

Thanks everyone! I'll try bag some seats nearest the wings. On the outbound flight though it looks like a toss up between sitting nearer the back for a window seat or sitting further forward with a seat in the middle 4 seats :(
