Have been confused by a varied selection of Fairmonts...An enticing looking Shangri-La and an option on Four Seasons... ?|

3 Night stay to get a feel for the city and chill out a bit, before squeezing ourselves into a UC seat on an A330 back home

location wise without being out in the sticks.. (ie. able to mooch out from hotel of an evening for eats and drinkies etc)

Any recommendations ?

Amex FHR often have complimentary third or fourth night free offers, so worth booking something now you can cancel, if you have an Amex Plat card then checking it out nearer the time. The Four Seasons offer (3 for 2) is currently only up to the end of April but they seem to get extended nearer the current end date. The guaranteed 4pm check out is also good considering those late night flights back.

I've gone for the Fairmont Pacific Rim as I prefer modern hotels. Also, who wouldn't want their drapes controlled by an iPad? I'll report back in March how it was.

I vote for the Shangri-La.. if it is anything like it's sister hotels around the world, I am certain they will provide excellent service. Location looks good too.

To be fair this is for sept, so not in any rush, but nice to box off and sort it.
Amex plat giving me options so far. Must admit the rooms at Shangri-La look lovely. But the pacific rim overall also looks good....
Oh what to do....

The whole tax stuff on hotel rooms also complicated, causing much confusion on rates offered by Amex...
